Video folders? avi's and DVD's
Is there a way to make the DVD's and AVI's be displayed in order in the video menu? All of my avi's and other movies are on the top and the DVD are all listed at the end of the movie list?

Hi,
Not sure why you are having this issue but my setup works the way you want. First off all my dvd's are in a folder with their name. Then inside that folder is a video_ts and audit_ts folder with the actual DVD content. I assume you have this already but just covering the basics. My avi's or mkV's are all in the same root folder as my dvd's with their respective names. I then sort by folder view and everything is sorted alphabetically regardless of file type. |

I think you are looking for the combined folder view. Select Options when in the Videos Folder view and then select Menu Options and then change the view to Combined (I am not inforont of my system so I may not recoall the menu options names well but hopefully you can find the right menu option).

I do have it set on combined and I have enclosed pictures to show what it is doing.
The first picture is of the movie folder as soon as I open it. The second picture is after I go all the way down to the bottom and there are the DVD's The third shows I am set on combined view The fourth one shows the change between the end of avi's and the beginning of dvd's. There has to be a way to just make it list in order all the movies regardless of the format of dvd or avi. I just can not see anything I can change to make it do it and do not want to scroll all the way to the bottom to get to a movie that should be at the top. Please help. |

I have exactly the same issue, DVDs displayed at the bottom not sorted with everything else and my screens are setup the same as yours above.
TBH I thought this was just the (weird) way it worked Would like it if they were all displayed together though.

It looks like it is is working as intended -- the folder view lists subfolders at the top of the list & videos below the list of subfolders. DVD folders are considered individual videos because the DVD folder structure is the DVD. The way this works in the folder view has not changed in v7.

Damn, TBH that's not very user friendly.
Could this be changed so irrespective of format (dvd folder or avi) they all get listed together in sorted sequence?

It is probably something that could be done in studio. I see now what's going on with what you guys are seeing. I hadn't realized that you were putting each of your individual videos in their own folders. Any particular reason you are doing this? Seems overly complicated to have the extra level, if the folder is only holding a single video.
So the current folder view is basically mirroring the behavior windows would have when viewing a folder (i.e., folders first, then files).

I have just always had each movie in its own folder. It keeps everything much cleaner in my import folder. It would be very nice if it could just sort everything from one import folder to sort from a to z no matter what type it is.

Do you have more than one file in those folders? I'm having a hard time seeing how it would be any cleaner if it's a choice between one video file, or one folder... With the new BMT not needing .properties files, and phoenix api fanart not needing any folder.jpg files, it seems just easier to keep everything at the level you would want to view them in sage.

I have srt and other subtitle files as well as original folder art in the folders. I really don't want to go and redo my entire folder structure when it should just take every folder and put it up on the screen in order. Every other version has done it that way as well as MC. Why not this one?

Can anyone else confirm that this is doing this for them also?

I have solved it by putting my DVDs in a folder within another folder, like this:
top folder / The Bourne Ultimatum / The Bourne Ultimatum / VIDEO_TS This way the DVDs will sort with the others
