Hauppauge HD PVR Driver 1.5.7

Has anyone tried this new version yet? HD-PVR has only frozen once since Sage v7 came out (and there were other ways that my computer overall was acting up beforehand) so I'm probably going to leave well enough alone but figured I'd post this in case it helps anyone still having problems with HD PVR.

I think this is the official release of the 1.5.6.2 beta.

1.5.7 is out.

http://www.hauppauge.com/site/suppor...ort_hdpvr.html

This driver fixes A/V sync issues with some Dish Network and FIOS set top boxes. This release also fixes IR receive issues with third party applications. In addition, this release includes changes to fix flash memory corruption problems.

This driver also fixes video flicker problem on European Sony Playstation3 and also addresses reliability problems returning from Sleep mode.

This version includes a record format which can be immediately played back on a Sony Playstation3. This is the .M2TS format.

This driver supports 32/64 bit Windows 7 and Vista, plus support for Windows XP.

I'm giving it a try, coming from 1.0.5.301. Installed last night, no errors as of this morning. My setup uses the IR blaster and analog audio, and the latest Sage 7 beta. At first I thought IR blasting wasn't working with 1.5.7, but the hdpvr just needed a power cycle.

As I mentioned in another thread, the thing that stabilized my HDPVR was a cooling fan, after trying various other things (different drivers, analog audio, NEC USB card). Driver version doesn't seem to have a significant impact on stability for me. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I installed it yesterday. So far so good - no issues.
But I did notice that channel changing takes a bit longer than before (1-2 sec.), which is kind of strange, since the previous beta driver (from the MC specific package) actually changed channels a bit faster.

Thumbs up

I am going to try it as well. I will report back if I have problems with it.

EDIT: After seveal recordings, all looks good. Now for the long (days) test to see if it behaves.

I am of the impression that it's a file corruption problem.

My HDPVR running on the old driver ran perfect for some 2-3 months after a fresh clean install of XP. Then it just started having issues.

During the time when the HDPVR ran rock solid were the warmest days in my office. When my HDPVR begun having issues were during much cooler days in my office. I really don't think it's a heat issue - at least not from my experience.

Update. This new driver makes my lock-ups much worse. I get a LOT more skips in my recordings and the driver basically freezes my system much more as well.

So much for progress

Added these drivers to a working, stable system. So far, still stable, but then I've only recorded a few shows.

I have been using sagetv 6 with hd-pvr with 1.5.6 for about 1 year without any lock up problems. I just upgraded to version 7 and upgraded the hd-pvr driver to 1.5.7 and now I am starting to experience lock ups almost each day or max 2 days. Not sure if it's related to sage 7 or the hd-pvr upgrade .....
