Recording listing order - help

SageTV V6 standard STV
Grouped by Title
Sorted by Title

I have one group (daily show my wife keeps) that all is well. Awhile back I moved it to a new Server including the wiz.bin, all was well.

Later (couple weeks) I noticed that I had missed 4 showing prior to cleaning up the old machine. Copied the 4 showings to new machine and they show in the recordings BUT they ended up at the end of the listing, not from the record date.

Titles of the showings are all the same. So I figure when all the same SageTV then does last sort by Modified Date? Does this sound right? Or by something else?

Anyone know how I can get the 4 shows back into the "proper" sort location in the listing?

I think after the chosen sort style, it just goes by entry in the database... Not sure you can really do much to change this, other than use a different sort by (I prefer Original Air Date).

Same here, I've never understood why anyone would want to sort episodes any other way since shows often need to be watched in order to follow the overall storyline. I do see the occasional need to temporarily sort other ways if there are a lot of recordings and someone is looking for a particular episode. To each his/her own though.

Know what you mean. Would love to have different sort orders between the main listing (by title) then within groups by air date.

Guess I need to check out Malore Menus. From my understanding, you can do that there. Or maybe it was SageMC. forget which right now

That can already be done in v7 with the default UI. I used the malore menus in v6 and it can sort that way as well. I'm not certain about the default recording listing in v6 because I haven't used it in ages. My shows are grouped by show title, the groups are sorted A-Z, then the episodes in each group are sorted by original air date with the oldest first.

Me too. I've seen some people on the forum question why people sort by oldest first, but it makes it really easy to watch the shows in order. The oldest is listed first and if you hit select, it is the one that will play first.

I guess if someone was keeping every show and not deleting them after watching, then that sort order could be annoying. But for people that delete shows after watching them (at least for most of their favorites), then I think this is the best method of sorting.

If you want the highest level of control over how your recordings are shown, filtered, grouped, and sorted, the malore screens are your best bet. In v7, they currently aren't using the new v7 look and feel yet, but are fully functional.
