Post PVR 350 Hardware config with working OSD and how many users have glitch free usage?

Hi all,
I wonder can people who have a dedicated PVR 350 working flawless with the OSD post their configs. I am still wrestling with taking the route of a PVR 350 in its own box feeding the tv and using the 350 only to record from my cable box (which is beside the tv as a backup for when Sage has issues )
My setup is listed below, without the PVR250s has anyone got anything similar working with the PVR 350 and OSD working glitch free? The interesting part is how many users have glitch free usage with the PVR 350 and OSD
Patrick

I con't fill out the poll because the answers to your question are not mutually exlusive.

I have a dedicated PVR-350 driving the TV.

The PC has:
EPIA-M motherboard (mini-ITX) running at 1 GHz
256 MB of RAM
built-in video
WindowsXP Home (SP 1 with updates)
80 GB HDD, formatted for 64 KB blocks
No CD/DVD ROM
No FDD
200 W Power Supply (ran fine with 135 W, but was noisy)
SageTV Client to drive the TV
SageTV Recorder so that the encoder is not wasted
Connected via 100BaseT to my server that holds 3 PVR-250s (intel 865 chip set)

I run the S-Video outputs of both the PVR-350 and motherboard into the TV (the motherboard is for when things go wrong).

The problems that I have been having (all pre-RC2):
Lock-up of the PVR-350 output when skipping through a program (the software is not locked, just the PVR-350 output)
Lock-up of the computer when SageTV Recorder starts/stops (this is suppose to be fixed with RC2, and seems to be)

Thanks for your reply, and yes some users may find that the poll questions do not fit exactly what they have. The info you posted is exactly what we need though. With specific info like this we can see more what configs are working for users with the PVR 350. I really want to go this route considering Sage are not supporting OSD on the XCard but I would hate to buy the PVR 350 and still have problems with OSD.

Just thinking about your hardware lockups and with my Xcard on the nForce2 board I was temporarily using I was getting the same problem, card would freeze picture, return to video out and Sage was working fine, only way I could get it to work was sometimes sleep Sage and worse case scenerio was to reboot. Seems a similar issue to you. I have not tried with the current Asus board I am using, may try tomorrow to see if it is doing it with this board, I blamed the nForce2 and some sort of conflict but maybe it is the RC Sage releases.

Is no one gonna give details of PVR 350 setups that are working glitch free with OSD?
I know the poll without multiple voting can't sum up most systems, but if users indicate at least whether they have glitch free 350 usage, it might help.
Come on guys

Not confusing, just not applicable. As I said in my first post, the answers are not mutually exclusive. If it were check boxes, I would have voted because it would have been applicable.

Yes I found it a bit frustrating that I couldn't do check boxes, is it possible for a moderator to do this?
It is an excellent oportunity to collect info on what everyone with 350s are using and maybe see a common thread between the working and non working 350 configs.
Thanks for your input though, at least you gave some details.
Patrick

I have a dedicated PVR-350. I have no client, and sadly at this time, just the one tuner.

The PC has:
Asus P3B F (440BX Chipset) Mobo, with a PIII 650 Mhz Proc
512 MB of RAM
Matrox G400 Video Card
WindowsXP Pro (SP 1 with updates)
PVR-350 of course, with OSD and software decode disabled.
80 GB HDD, formatted for 64 KB blocks
60 GB HDD, formatted for 64 KB blocks
20 GB HDD, partitioned to one 5GB system drive, 15GB MP3 storage
Toshiba 16X DVD ROM
No FDD
Antec Overture case with TruePower 380 Watt ATX power supply
Actysis IR200L for controlling cable box
Hauppauge Remote

Using the latest drivers from SHSPVR and RC2 with no problems.
I use the video out from the 350 for all my Sage stuff except DVD and use the output from the G400 for the windows desktop and DVD's.

Thanks for the input, if we had all the users doing a similar list we could do a database and then cross referance the hardware showing what works and what doesn't.

Maybe the reason you aren't getting many responses is because there are only two people who have PVR-350's working glitch-free

Personally, I've only got my system up for a couple of days and I'm getting occasional hard lockups, but give me a couple more days fiddling with it and maybe I can respond with a working hardware config

I have only a 350 using OSD w/ hardware decoding enabled, overlay rendering, and default decoders. I rarely ever have problems with my system in terms of locking up and picture quality/playback. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Athlon XP 2400+
Maxtor 250GB 7500 RPM HD
512MB RAM
PVR350
WinXP PRO
JDK 1_14_12
Girder 3.29

I've got an old Soyo SY-K7V DRAGON Plus! board with an Athlon XP 1600+. I tried changing "Hardware Decoding Only" to Enabled last night, and haven't gotten any lockups yet (knock on wood!). I'll post my complete configuration in a couple of days if it proves to be stable (I don't remember exactly what I have in this box...)

So far all the positive feedback is from athlon systems with the eception of the via c3. I know there was problems with an earlier pentium systems, anyone running P4 systems with OSD on PVR 350?

I have the 350 and am running on a Dell P4 2.8 (Dimension 4600). I have been unsuccessful in getting the OSD working without locking up within 5 minutes. I also see the multi-color vertical lines between channel changes for the short period of time that it does work.

I've upgraded all drivers and apps. I'm holding out that the next RC or the actual RTM will resolve this, and have been told by support that this is something that they are working on.

Well the good news is, I received my PVR 350 today and so far the only lockups I had were from a screwed up wiz.bin file (file locations wrong and so caused Sage to go looking for stuff that wasn't there). I have OSD working perfect. So far no glitches whatsoever.
Very Happy
Patrick
