SageTV Not Opening Com Port (Using Digi realport multi-port serial adapter)
I am running a hd-pvr with a directv box contolled by a serial connection. I was using a moxa serial card but now moved to a new a serial port device - digi real port. It doesnt work but beyond that I notices that sage isnt locking/taking over the serial port. Is that by design?
I was using a moxa serial card but upgraded to a digi realport. The digi realport is a box I put on my network that it has 16 serial ports outputs rather then an internal card. It is paired with a windows-7 multiport serial adapter that creates 16 virtual serial ports
What is interesting is the driver for the com ports shows what program (if any) is using the serial port. Just like a regular serial port only one program can lock the port at a time. First program in wins and locks the port. For any of the 5 or 6 programs that I have used before sagetv I can see that it is locking the serial port. But with sagetv it doesnt lock the port at all.
I can start sage, see no lock on port 3 and then start the directv control software and see it take over the port and then control the box.
Does sage have a special way it works with serial ports? It is correct that the software does not lock the port. Anyone use a digi realport with sage?
