If EVR is making the DVD menus disappear, that sounds like it may be a video card driver issue. (as in EVR mode, they should be composited on the video card).

Is there a way to change the video import folder of where the Playon plugin stores the videos? There's a readme file in the sageonlineservicesexes\unpbrowser\playon that says:

This folder is for storing the dummy videos used by the PlayOn Plugin. Its automatically added as an import directory and can be changed to a different import directory though the Plugin configuration.

But I can't find where in Sage to look for the plugin configuration to change the folder. I see that I could change it on the server in SageProperties but I can't find where to change the default settings for this plugin.

Thanks,
Mike

I might be misunderstanding you but the dummy folder is different than where the PlayOn videos are stored. Are you looking for where the PlayOn caches the videos or where this plugin will save a video if you hit "record"? This might help if you just want to change where this plugin saves videos when you hit the record button...

I'm kind of looking for both - I like to keep my hard drives clean and specify where videos go so that fragmentation is kept to a minimum on the main server's drive.

But, from the thread it would seem that I have the option to record the video but only have it is done and at the end. Is this correct?

Also, - this is a different problem. It seems that if I stopped a Netflix movie and then start it again later then it doesn't start at the beginning of the movie. If I decide I want to record the whole thing or start watching from the beginning again how can I do that?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the clarification - turns out that I finally got all my video card drivers in order because EVR is working now for DVD's; I just did not test it.

I wonder if it is a codec issue that is preventing me from actually playing PlayOn videos?

Arrow multi user?

Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched, but probably didn't pick the right keywords.

Is the PlayOn plugin single user? I just got it all set up correctly and the family has already started enjoying it. However, if one user is watching via PlayOn on one Extender and someone tries to watch something else on another extender it appears that it stops the first stream. Is this correct? If so any way around it? It's not critical, but hard to explain to the family that they need to make sure nobody is using PlayOn before they use it.

Playon streams to the server which then streams it to the extenders. So it can only be used by a single extender at a time.

I'm having issues with NetFlix today. Just yesterday I was able to watch movies in my Instant Queue, but not today. I get the error message "Error Retrieving Queue". I had previously changed the UPnPBrowser.presets file to use the "PlayOn:Netflix:Instant Queue:Alphabetical:+2" setting. In the UPnPBrowser.log file I was seeing:

Looking for : Alphabetical
/ Error retrieving queue (...)
! Couldn't find : Alphabetical
- Found UID (...) outputting directory
/ Error retrieving queue

So I changed it back to "Queue Top 50:+1" in the presets file, but I'm still getting a similar error in the log with "Couldn't find : Queue Top 50". I have verified that I'm using the latest version of PlayOn (3.0.38.1), and I verified that PlayOn can contact the Netflix channel with my username/password.

Note that I can still "Browse Genres" and see "New Arrivals", so I think that the Instant Queue name has changed.

It's an issue with PlayOn

Thanks! I did search the PlayOn forums, but obviously didn't find that post. I'll just wait it out for them to fix it.

I'm still wondering if Playon streams to Sage from where I left off in the video how can I start a video in my queue from the beginning again?

Thanks,
Mike

This is a netflix issue. Netflix stores the watched position in the web player (which is what playon is capturing). The only way to start at the beginning is to either let it play to the end, or log into the web client and skip to the end or beginning, and stop it.

PlayOn updated their software to 3.0.38.3 and this fixed the Instant Queue error. Nice to see that they handled the problem so quickly. Thanks again to PosterBoy for pointing out the PlayOn forum post.

PlayOn still will not play anything in STV

Sorry to keep bringing this up again, but I still cannot get anything to actually play in SageTV that I browse on PlayOn. I can browse content just fine and when I select something, I can see it loading the the progress bar, but it will not play (tried hitting play, pause, etc but it will not move).

During my lastest test, I was able to play PlayOn on a second Sage box. I made sure this box was "identical" to the problem box by making sure that the versions in System Information were all the same and that each was using the same plug-ins as to rule this out... unfortunately, nothing obvious there. The only difference now is that I have PlayOn installed and running on the problem box that is also a server (but I don't think this is an issue). Could anyone please chime in with a suggestion to fix this headache?

actually i wanted to go back a second. . . I never ran into this before, but I just saw comments that with PlayOn you can only have one stream running at time (at least per sage server).

Evil. . .is there someway you could put in a warning dialog to trap for this (or if there is a way around it that would be sweet). . .

One question I've got.. If I sign up with PlayOn and stream shows (or whatever) to the PC, does Sage actually capture them for later playback or is it 'live' and if someone else wants to watch it later (a 2nd time) does it stream from Sage (as a stored disk file) or does it have to re-stream it again from PlayOn? Sorry if this is a NOOB question?!!

Once the file is fully buffered, I have been able to hit the record button on my remote and the file is then saved. I believe it is saved in the videos section, but could be wrong about the location. I also don't remember if it worked for all files, but I have done it for a few. Then once it is saved you can replay it from your server without it being streamed through playon.

Same problme as RetroBox

I can see Hulu content, select content, but it never comes out of buffer. Tried pressing play button, no help.

Attached please find the version information and the Audio/Visual setting page.

Let me know if there is any other info that I could provide to assist in troubleshooting.

Of course, many thanks for the wonderful plugin (had it working in the Sage v6 version), and the valuable support.

I just tried this and it worked great for a Hulu video. I haven't tried it for anything else yet. What are the chances we can get a plugin that will automatically start downloading a video in the queue and once it has finished the entire video stream, it records the video, changes the name to include the Season number and Episode number and have it imported into the recordings section? This will allow households that have multiple people watching TV at once with the limitation of streaming only 1 stream at a time a non issue for the most part as the majority of videos would be on local disk. This would also allow users to only watch a portion of a Hulu video and resume at the same point at a later time. My idea would be to have a time window at which the process would occur, as it shouldn't happen during normal viewing times.

I think this discovery is huge and great things can come from it.
