Sage and Fios

I currently use Sage 5.0 with 3 encoders running on Cox expanded basic analog. I am considering moving to Sage. Is there anyone who has Fios and is able to record HD tuners?

Does this require 3 boxes? Does Verizon charge you per box? How much does it cost you to provide Sage with the ability to record 3 or more channels?

I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

It depends on what you want to record. Fios has a bunch of channels in the clear, as long as you have a QAM tuner. If you have a HDPVR then you'll need 1 box per HDPVR. I have a HVR2250 and a HDPVR which serves the whole house, so I just have to pay for the 1 box.

I had to cancel fios because they lied to me about having clear QAM (unencrypted local channels). I tried to get QAM to work for 6 months; two different TVs and 3 different types of tuner card and nothing worked.

I signed up with Time Warner Cable and I had QAM within the hour but I didn't find it too useful (only the locals after all). So I added the expanded basic with no cable boxes and I'm thrilled with the picture quality (equal to fios on SD channels) and can have as many tuners as I want.

Fios also screwed up my bill when I canceled them. It took me 8 months to straighten out. They tried to rip me off and say I never returned their boxes. Would not recommend fios to anyone.
