Turn off thumbnails?

I have an older client that the thumbnails and animations really slow it down any way to them off? Before the client used to peg at 40% not when browsing recordings etc... now it pegs at 100%... I want response on navigation not that much eye candy.

Is it dependent on the graphics card? My placeshifter (C2D 4300 on Ubnutu 9.10 with 2GB memory) also feels somewhat more sluggish than it was before.I do have very old graphics card Geforce 2MX.

I am talking about the thumbnails it downloads etc... when you are in the guide or in the show info. I am one of those that doesn't need a thumbnail to tell me what show it is. I rather have that real-estate for text.... or even expand the show title row to the right. Also when in folder view in the Videos what is the purpose of those thumbnails... when viewing by row. I have several series and the thumbnails are all the same so I get 4 thumbnails but not much of the title. Also how can u stop the scanning of the videos for thumbnails? On my other TV's the thumbnails cover most of the titles.

I looked unsuccessfully for a way to turn them off, but I too would
like to. They're just not useful, they take up screen space that
could be used for something else, and it sure feels like the UI slows
down while they're being downloaded and displayed.

I, too, prefer a text-centric interface.

Not sure what you hope to accomplish by bumping a 2-year-old thread from a Beta version that has long since been released, especially given the fact that there will be no more releases of SageTV as we know it.

If you want to try a third-party UI that may be more to your liking, try the Customizations forum.
