7.0.9 client won't connect to server v. 6?!

I've just installed the new client after uninstalling the 6.6.2 client. It can't connect to the server. The server is recording continuously for the next 15h, so I don't want to disturb it.

I understood that the old client won't connect to the new server, but not the other way around.

Any ideas ?

Cross compatibility is never guaranteed even between minor versions. I'm not surprised new client can't talk to old server.

OK, I'll trash a recording. Walking on thin ice though.

On second thought, this is not so simple. Once I upgrade the server to 7.0.9, *all* the clients must be upgraded as well; quite some work. And also, if I have to revert the server, I'll have to revert the clients as well.
