I don't know about moving the two directories back and forth... You might want to consider installing v7 on a different computer (or in a vm or in a different boot partition) for testing... The HD200 will connect to either one from the standalone menu so you should be able to test and connect to both.

That being said v7 has been really stable on my main system (no real recording or playback glitches to speak of)

EDIT: one thing to remember is the v7 wiz.bin is NOT compatible with v6

Will 24p finally work in server and stand alone mode???
Or one of the other at least???
Very disappointing so far...

I hope 24p is finally fixed...

ive had no problems with 1080p24 when connecting to the server (but then again ive never had a problem). I don't know if anything has changed in standalone mode because i dont use it.

Also the HD200 will now switch on framerate when native resolution switching is enabled (ie if you have 1080p24 enabled in the properties it will switch to that mode when playing a 1080p24 bd )

Specifically, I've never been a fan of the multi-colored approach. I think it adds too much to the screen, besides that the colors don't seem to mesh very well. I'd rather see the color variations more along the lines of different shades of the same color. I think that would be more visually appealing. Like I said, I want to test drive it first. And, SageMC currently does it the same way but that's not necessarily a show stopper for me. Take a look at the 7MC EPG for what I mean:

As the orignator of this thread can I ask that we start a new thread entitled something like "SageTV V7 questions". The first 12 pages or so of this thread are no longer applicable.

Thanks Plucky. So is it correct (from the screenshots avail) that in the default stv, the menu is static with the cursor moving up and down?

(Feel free to say, "Just wait for the beta to come out and try it your damn self!"...)

How long will the beta work before it expires? I think there is a 21 day trial period, but wouldn't that be on the Sage7 official release? Will the beta work until the fully Sage7 release is made available for sale?

I don't think I've seen anyone comment on the server resources for v7 compared with v6.

Any differences? Did any of the beta testers run it on a "medium horsepower" server?

I hope that I can conclude from this comment that the SageTV Studio in V7 is more developer friendly because the 'programming language' (if one dares to call it that) is far from intuitive in V6, and that was always my greatest concern when updating plugins...

As far as the 'layers' issue addressed here, I was refering to layers in a more generic programming term as in 'UI Layer', 'Business Layer' and 'Data Access Layer'. I've taken the pragmatic approach and written all the business and data access logic in Java and put it in a JAR file, so hopefully that should be reusable

Has anyone tried out using Channel Logos in the guide yet? I live and die by those. I don't remember channel numbers anymore.

Backup SageTV Directory and install V7.

To go back to V6,
Uninstall V7, Install V6 and copy the SageTV dirs from you backup.

The HD200s are fine.

Can anyone running the beta comment with regards to IR blaster functionality?

Right now I'm using LM Remote Keymap to control two digital boxes, and Sage's built in IR Blaster support to control one more (three boxes in total).

Anyone do an upgrade while using either type of blaster? Did it go ok?

They usually post up multiple betas, and well within the 21 day time-frame..

IMHO sage is ahead of the competition as far as well rounded htpc platforms.

Pretty much the same resource wise.
Due to the performance improvements, I would dare to say that now it is not necessary to have a fast CPU unless you are doing a lot of transcoding with placeshifter and media mvps.

I 've had V7 on the main system full time since the beginning almost. It is as stable and probably more stable than V6. My wife and kids use it.

You could use the old UI for wife and kids.

The file types are still the same.

BS. First of all, Sage is not giving me this product, I'm paying for it. That entitles me to giving feedback and constructive (I hope) criticism*. If it meets your needs 100%, good for you. I too think it's the best htpc pvr solution out there, but that doesn't mean it's perfect - far from it.

Don't knock the complainers - they're the ones driving the product forward. When software stops evolving, it dies. So the fact that it's "never enough" for some people is actually a good thing.

* = come to think of it, I'd be entitled to criticism even if Sage was freeware. If you put your stuff out there, you invite feedback. So there.
