Playback pauses when another extender is turned on

I have 5 X HD200 and an HD100. SAGEMC and gigabit network.

I've recently noticed that when one of the HD200 is turned on, playback to the other units pauses for 10 seconds or more.

Anyone else seen this, got any solutions?

Thanks

Turned on from sleep mode or turned on with the hard power switch?

To be honest, I haven't seen it, but I keep my extenders turned on all the time. The power difference between turned on and sleep mode is very little. These devices don't use a lot of power anyway, so I've decided it simply easier to keep them on.

Then I would really suggest that you simply leave both extenders on 100% of the time. The only perceived benefit to leaving them on is power consumption. But if you hook a meter to it, you'll find that the power consumption in "Sleep" mode is almost as high as "On". Even when "On" it only pulls a few watts, so it isn't a huge power consumer in the grand scheme of things.

I know that doesn't really answer your question as to why it occurs, but at least it keeps you out of the dog house.

Memory may be the cause

So after a bit of trial and error, I increased the memory in the server to 4GB and increased the JVM to 512MB. The playback pause when an additional extender connects has gone and the system seems more reponsive and less prone to freezinf whist navigating the menus.

With that many extenders, I'd even recommend bumping that JVM up a little higher (768, 1024). They all have to share the same JVM, and if it gets crowded in there, things like cached images and such get un-cached, slowing down UI responsiveness.
