Windows7 and Sage reliability?
Well, been running a successful server HTPC with 2 HD Extenders, an HVR-1800 and Hd-PVR on Win XP. I'm considering making the switch to windows 7 but I'm concerned that I might run into trouble and regret upgrading. Any thoughts/comments will be appreciated, thanks.

If it's a headless server, I wouldn't upgrade to 7 just to upgrade.. you won't really get any extra functionality from it. If you were using it as a client, however, I think it would be worth it. The playback pipeline is SOOO much better in 7 than XP.

Yes, I'm using it as a client. It serves playon, and a bunch of other things to my smartphone, mediamonkey (music management), web browsing, etc etc. Is it a smooth transition upgrading, or will I have to dedicate a lot of time to set up Sage again? Thanks.

well, you will have to go though the setup process again. Favorites and such are all in the wiz.bin, so they won't have to be setup again, but channel lists, and such will be. there's a win7 faq floating around here somewhere. The biggest hurdle people encounter is UAC. Some say turn it off.. Though I feel that's a little extreme. I'd recommend installing in C:\SageTV. Putting it outside of the Program Files folder will eliminate any UAC issues (as it won't be protected there), while still allowing UAC protection for anything else. There's also a FAQ i think for moving your sage install to a new computer.

I upgraded to W7 on mine and have had no problems with it. Windows 7 has been very good to me so far as has SageTV with W7

I think most have moved on to using Dirmon2 or Sage Job Queue.

Yes works fine. Are you using 32 or 64 bit? For 64 you may want to start a 32 bit cmd.exe and run setup.bat from there. Also make sure that you have admin rights (write access to the install dir).

64 bit, guess that is my problem. Any instructions on how to start a 32bit cmd.exe? Thanks! Sage server almost complete.....

Thank you, I feel that I am getting closer....when I try to run the setup.bat, it now states "Exception.....Could not find the main class:CSMconfig...."

If you haven't disabled UAC you will either need to right-click on the bat file and "Run as Administrator". Being logged in as Administrator with UAC is not enough. Or start a command prompt with run as administrator and then execute the bat file.
