It's the original version AIW Radeon..... I do have a 9600 card I'm thinking of "borrowing" from my main system to see what happens....

The 350 is in the 1st PCI slot.... right below the AGP.

Woad. Unless that is a single PCI system never use the first it is shared with the AGP slot. Hauppauge claims there cards are especially sensitive to IRQ sharing.

Yes,, if at all possible just use the agp card and pvr 350 by themselves, see if you still have the problem. The one by one add back in the compnents you need, this way you can pinpoint the culprit. From the chewed files and and stops in recording I think the PVR card is locking up and then coming back online, this would mean that there is no real evidence that there is a disruption in the recording until playback.
Also if at all possible a motherboard bios update might also help.

I popped in my 9600 in place of the other video card..... put the 350 on the bottom PCI. Format, reinstall..... LiveTV performance is still horrible. Playback is still great.

I'm going to pull my other cards and look for a BIOS update.... if ASUS is still supporting this MOBO that is.......

[edit: I have the latest BIOS already]

I'll update in a little bit.

Thanks.

I'm more concerned with LiveTV playback at the moment....WAF I am willing to assume the broken files were the .16 release. We'll see if it repeats.... so far last night's recordings came through just fine.

Well as you can see I use the exact same board.. works a lot better than nForce2 board for me. I have ALL pci slots filled, Ati vivo 64, 3 PVR 250s.
Have the latest board drivers installed.

I've tried about everything you suggested..... it is even stuttering with the 350 output. I "updated" my Soundblaster Live 5.1 drivers..... BIG mistake... Playback is messing up now too. Plays good for about 3 seconds then progressively loses sync/skips badly from there.

I'll reformat and forego the creative drivers..... this effect though now has me pointing fingers at the sound card more than anything.

I've tried pulling the audio card, but the latest MOBO BIOS 1012 only has Auto or Disabled as options for the on-board sound. Haven't gotten that to work yet to rule out (or comfirm) the sound card as the culprit.

[Edit: LiveTv with BTV3 and WinTV2000 look perfect..... I'm at my wit's end here. Removing the SB drivers did put me right back to suare one..... Playback awesome.... other apps do Live right..... Sage Live = HORRIBLE!!!! Gotta be a S/W problam in Sage. UURRGGG]

Btw with the client RC2 I crash to the desktop with with some codecs and with Cyberlink codecs they display a window with the video instead of showing within Sage. Only overlay works for me for recorded shows. For live tv everything works fine.
Very weird.

Got it to stop studdering...... rolled quality to the absolutely LOWEST setting and made sure 3d Accel is off. Quality stinks.
The other apps let me view at a resonable quality without studdering. What gives here?

[EDIT: just looked up by the time I got done typing this..... studder, studder]

Try swapping the PVR 350 do a different slot now that the SB live is out of the system. It may take a full format again to get the OS to assign the irqs properly. The rule always for me with SB Live and even the Audigys is to install them last in the system, install everything else first and then see if it all works, if it works and you then feel brave you can try the SB card, might be wise to make a Norton Ghost image first before you do this so that you can restore if the SB card screws it all up. System restore is not guaranteed to restore the system.
PS. Which Ati drivers you using?

I can live w/o the SB card.
I already moved the 350.
All that's in now is the 9600 with the very latest Catalyst driver, a D-Link NIC, and the 350. Using on-board audio, and Com 1 for the connection to my DTV box.

Driver version is 6.14.10.6436 dated 3/22/04

Patrick, I gotta say..... Thanks for working this with me!

Why the D-Link nic? My board has onboard lan.
I have been running through SageTV RC2 on my machine and it really works pretty good. All I have is Ati Vivo 64 and the 3 PVR 250s in this box and the rest of the onboard audio and lan PLUS the USB-UIRT. All is working great, much more stable than my client which crashed in certain configs on an nForce2 board.

My MOBO is only the A7A-266 (the 1st version w/o LAN)
My client machine is working AWESOME.... 2400+ ATI 9600 on a A7N8X MOBO. Not the slightest glitch.

Hate to say this but try a different nic OR just move it around in the pci slots that is the only difference really that I see. Remove it first to see if that is the issue and then work on getting it resolved if it is.

it's got a ALI ALiMagic 1 chipset, quite possibly one of the worst chipsets ever. I had an ALI based board once, that was scary.
