QAM from one city but OTA from another- not helping with conflicts?

Marital bliss took a hit last week when sage missed a couple recordings. Apparently three of her shows are all on at the same time now. I have an HDHR set to receive OTA channels from a town north, but I also have an hvr2250 that gets QAM from the south. I had thought that Sage looked for the episode ID, so it would be able to find a recording regardless of what station it is on and thus be able to resolve conflicts. So in my case, it seems like it should be able to track it down on the northern NBC station even though it is a different channel/tuner/format, but the same episode. This does not appear to be happening, however. Any ideas?

Why not just hook the HDHR to the cable?

But to your question what is happening?

I get better PQ and surround sound from the OTA locals. Plus, it's nice to have another source other than cable in case it goes out.
