USB-UIRT sharing issues

I use a USB-UIRT with Sage for receiving remote control commands and to change channels on my STB. Everything works great until I add Girder to the mix. I want to use Girder v3.2.9 to control VideoLan. I am using the latest Girder plugin for the USB-UIRT (v2.5.9) and the Sage ir dll from here.

When I launch Girder while Sage is running, Sage will begin to respond sluggishly to the remote control commands. Sage may not respond for 2-3 seconds to a remote key press or it will respond immediately but behave as if I pressed the remote button twice. Once I close Girder everything goes back to normal.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I think Girder takes control of the USB-UIRT at the driver level. If Girder is already running and you try to turn on the USB-UIRT support in Sage, Sage doesn't even recognize that the USB-UIRT is installed. I gave up and just did all of my Sage controls through Girder.

I tried routing all my remote control functions through Girder but I still had problems because Sage still needed to control the USB-UIRT so it could change the channels on my STB.

You can command Girder to change channels on SageTV's behalf using the EXETunerPlugin.

I am now harassing Stuart

Did you get a chance to check your pause settings in Girder?

I check that thread, and you had not post there yet.

Thanks!
Ralph

I too am interested in using girder. maybe someone here with girder both controlling Sage and changing an external cable box could post a step by step setup for using girder to replace Sage's native usb-uirt support?
Anyone wanna help?

Contact the USB-UIRT developer Jon,

He has a Girder Plugin that allows the device to be shared with Girder and Sage.

It works great for me

Yeah!

After a little searching around, I discovered that Jon Rhees had already solved the problem. I just needed this updated driver. Now Sage and Girder work together with no issues.

sorry to chime in so late, but you need the sharing driver that is in beta, some searching on the usb-uirt forum for "sharing beta" should turn up the link.

edit: HA, found it, www.usbuirt.com/latestGirderPlugin.zip

Anyone know has Girder trial got any limitations? When I try to use it and set the targetting, it just loses any settings I enter? Is it me that is doing something wrong here? Or is the trial limited in some way?

Make sure you hit the apply button before you browse away from the command.

I think there's an apply button in the target window as well? Did you try clicking that?

I've never used the trial but it would seem to me that it wouldn't be much of a trial if you can't target anything.
