recordable online services - podcasts, etc as favorites?

I searched but didn't find the answer. Can things like TekZilla, from online services, be set-up as favorites, so they record when new episodes are released? My TiVo does this - is it simple and I just can't figure it out?
thanks

No, it's not possible within SageTV. You'd have to use a 3rd party podcast downloader to do this.

I think it would be a great feature if Sage could do it. Having the option to treat podcasts just like any other favourite would be quite handy...

Favorites apply to programs in the EPG, not to online streaming video.

But there's probably a way (outside of Sage) to schedule automatic download of online content into a video import directory where it will be picked up by Sage. How you do that probably depends on where the content is coming from.

That would be great if it could be done somehow - because of this feature alone, and the Netflix streaming, my new Tivo is very attractive alternative to Sage.

It doesn't do automatic recording of Favorites yet, but it has been suggested to me and I find the idea interesting... http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...do=file&id=346

I'm using a program called Replay A/V from Applian. It automatically records podcasts as well as other online content and puts them in a folder I have imported in Sage. Not as cool as having it built in, but it does the job.

looks interesting - I take it stores the files in their native file format, resolution etc.? And then you just link the folder to Sage - that sounds easy enough. But you're correct, it would be very cool if the Sage folks took notice of the internet content explosion and added this feature.

It will store them in their native format, or you can have it do a conversion to a particular format (for example MP3) automatically, if needed.

Yes, that's the idea. I am working on the next version which doe NOT include this, but does include some internal changes needed to implement this functionality.

Hi. I couldn't get this to work, following the instructions.
I placed the contents of the Sage TV3 dir into the same dir on my drive, and placed the JARS into that directory.
I can get to the "categories" page, and see a pile of podcasts.
For example, if I select one like "Cranky Geeks" from Science/Tech for example, many episode appear.
Is there a way to either selectively download a variety of those specific episodes, or a way to download the next one that gets posted?

Sorry, I do not understand what you are describing. If you are talking about installing the Malore Online Browser that's installed by unzipping to the SageTV\SageTV directory.

That's normal. The left panel will display all of the episodes that are available.

There is no current way to download the next one that get's posted. To download one of the episodes in the right column just make sure it has the focus and then press "Record" on your remote or Ctrl-y if you are using a keyboard. If the left panel has the focus and you press record all of the podcasts in the right panel will be downloaded.

You are probably better off posting this in the support thread for the Malore Online Browser.

Ctrl-y - thanks, I'm not using a remote all the time so that is good info. Oh ok, good idea - hopefully some readers will find it there. If and when Favorites ever became part of the app, that would be a great addition to Sage.
