When messing with settings and such, I think I must have messed something up bad. Now I cant do anything with this. When I go to Guide, it crashes back to the server client main screen. I installed the new API and changed the stream settings and really wanna get this working. Not sure what I did though.

I want to try reinstalling it on the phone, but cant figure out how to uninstall a none market place app.

Try going to the server configuration and wiping the database. Sounds like something is wrong with your lineups. Or I could use a Log Collector report to try and figure it out...

Is the database sync all or nothing? If all, (warning feature request coming) has any thought be given to at least doing a sync of just one media category vs all of them, e.g. videos?

I'm into hour 3 of my sync (bought the activation code today ) and still only half way through my albums and photos though videos did finish. I'm guessing there is no practical way to do a differential.

Have the phone plugged in so hopefully it will run through the night, will know in the morning.

Once this is done I can continue to experiment with the streaming playback. I was able to get a south park episode to stream. I have updated to vlc 1.1 and removed all of the manual entries in sage.properties, tomorrow will tell...

Again, thanks for an excellent application!
-Ben

There are various levels of sync, based on where it is requested... From the Media Center screen, it will sync all the Media (i.e. Audio/Photo/Video), from the Video category it would only sync the Videos, from the Guide it would only sync the Lineups and so on...

How many of each categories do you have?

Not really. I would pretty much have to build an exclusion list, send it to SageTCPServer, parse it there, produce an update and send it. While that might cut the data download, that would increase the data upload and computation time, so I am not sure that the end result would be much improvement...

Upgraded to SageTCPServer 1.5.6 + taSageTV 1.09. Streaming broke.

Upon further inspection, I found that VLC was not running on the server. The fix was to add the following line to the sage.properties file:
Code:
sageTCPServer/streamingVLCPath=C:/Program Files/VideoLAN/VLC/vlc.exe
And yes, I did restart the Sage service, rebooted the server and my phone and verified VLC was in the correct location before trying that.

Not sure why I need to explicitly define a path for VLC when I didn't before. It should default to that folder, right? Anyone else having this problem, or am I just imagining things?

The good news is that it's working again!

Which doesn't really make sense, as that is what SageTCPServer itself will use by default... If you still have a copy of the sagetv_*.txt that had issues, try to attach the zipped version please.

Well, the log has no references to starting the Guide, so nothing to debug... OTOH, I do see something funny with your Favorites with a description of [ufo], it has no title!?! How was it created and what's the title displayed from the actual SageTv UI?

I think that's a favourite by keyword. I had one but got rid of it as I suspected it was chocking the parser...

I see, that makes sense. So I could remove the constraint of requiring a Title, but then I'd have nothing to display in the list, or just copy the Description field to Title I guess...

EDIT: I decided to just copy Description to Title for those.

I have been trying to change that line as well but it keeps changing back. I have all services shut down, but still no luck. Current line reads...

As far as the Guide goes, I tried wiping the DB many times and still as of now does not work. Ill will try to get a log here in a sec.

Except for the escaping character (: --> \:), those lines are the same...

Good to know on each category, thought it was a total resync, didn't want to do that.

Oh, 12,NNNish albums, 9NNNish photos, songs, erm, lots (Some of that album quantity has to do with a DJ collection I have that has just a few songs for each artist but spans 10,000 Maniacs to ZZ Top )

Connection was lost when phone did it's usual battery saving go to sleep because the user isn't interacting with it thing (even thought it was plugged into the wall wart) will sync the individual categories.

Based on that log, you have a crappy connection and it keeps reconnecting over and over... You probably tried hitting the Guide in between reconnection...

Yeah, my main tester has like 15k songs in 9k albums or such, due to some dj collection, and like 5k photos. It does take a while to sync, but not that long.

Yeah, I should probably try to disable that during sensitive operations.

Dont know about a crappy connection, but in this test I was hitting the guide button over and over to make sure it was in the logs enough to see the problem.

The other possibility is that since it was crashing taSageTV, it kept reconnecting... So now I need to see what happens on the Android side, with the Log collector...

OK, so it is choking reading channels back from the database... Which goes back to the bad lineup issue... So go back to the configuration, hit wipe database and send me the corresponding sagetv_0.txt and log collector please.

One thing to consider, if you copy the vlc line from sagetv_0.txt and paste it at a command line, it will start a console, which will most likely tell you that the resolutions need to be multiple of 18 (16 would be more logical, but whatever...), and might catch other issues too...

So I think I successfully deleted the DB due to all data being gone on the Droid. I am now able to get into the Guide but nothing in there.

One other note.. (Wasnt this way before) When I first start the app, it connects to the server, I can navigate anywhere within it and it stays connected, If I hit guide, it disconnects from the server and I have to restart the app to reconnect.
