Help with Issues: FLAC broken, FFDshow ignored, subtitle size?

So I'm retrying SageTV again because SageTV is the ultimate king of client/server operations and that is really important to me.

Before I ended up moving on last time, I had 3 small issues that I was working on. I figured with my new experience with media playback on the PC I could fix these myself now. No such luck, so I was wondering if anyone can help me sort them out?

1) This one should be easy, how do I change the foont size for subtitles?

2) I can't get FLAC files to play in SageTV. I did search and I tried some of the the posted possible fixes but they didn't work. Truth is that there is very little about it here. Seems people are not using SageTV for music, don't use flac, or aren't havign this issue. This thread is really the best resource I found and none of the proposed fixes worked for the poster or anyone else who posted in that thread either. This leads to my next issue which I think is tried to this,

3) FFDshow is not being called by SageTV. Which is possibly the reason for the FLAC problem. I have DShowplayer set to true, as I want to use dshow filters, not MPlayer.

Ok, a couple things here.

A) Zoomplayer plays FLAC fine. Its using FFDshow to decode the flac audio.

B) When I play an avi in zoomplayer on the computer, the little ffdshow icon shows up in my tasktray. In SageTV, playing the same avi does not show the little ffdshow icon and its doesn't load FFDshow at all. I have no clue what SageTV is using to decode the avi.

C) If I set dshow player to false, it does play flac files, but it doesn't play a bunch of other files MP4s, H264 avi (though it does play mkv h264, which is strange), and my bluray rips are hit and miss. However, even if it did, I would prefer to use dshow codecs over Mplayer.

D) The PC is a dual core intel E6300 with a Nvidia 8600 video card and 4 GBs of ram. Its running SageTV client on windows 7 32bit. It is a very clean install, as this was running Mythbuntu previously so Win7 was clean installed (I got real good at clean installs). The only codecs I installed was Coreavc and ffdshow. Coreavc installed Haali Media splitter and SageTV installed AC3filter. I let Zoomplayer install flashvideo filter.

Does anyone have any ideas? If I can get SageTV to use FFDshow, I think that will fix my FLAC problem.

Thanks!

Though really, why is SageTV totally not using FFdshow? This is what is really puzzling me. Is this CPlayerData.cpp to blame? I gave it highest merit and I set it to no restrictions. I even set it to allow multiple instances to see if that was the problem. I have no other codecs installed so there should be no merit conflict anyway.
