HD PVR Audio Issues

I recently acquired a Nettop PC with the idea of using it strictly for capturing video with the Hauppauge HD PVR. It is an Aspire Revo. All has gone well except for the audio. I realize that this computer has an Atom processor and is 1.6ghz, so perhaps my issue is nothing more than that, however I thought I would ask for any other solutions.

Video capture goes great. Not skipping, juttering or anything like that. Audio, however, is distorted. Not to the point of being not understandable. But there is a tinny quality to it. Pixellated, for lack of a better word. I have the Nettop setup for audio capture via the SPDIF cable.

Not sure if there is a way to alter the capture quality (say downgrade to stereo only for instance).

At any rate, any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is just a 4th video source, so it is not a major issue for me, but I'd like to fix, if possible.

What type of STB are you capturing from? I believe there are a few STB's that the HDPVR has difficulties with when using optical audio.

Well I know this was a small problem, but I did solve it myself. I changed the settings on the VIP211 audio to PCM only and RF Mode. This eliminated the "vibration" effect in the audio. If I understand correctly, this means the decoding of the Dolby Digital will be done by the Receiver? Frankly, the TV this is hooked up to has a simple audio setup, so it's tough to detect any change in audio quality.

Out posts must have crossed paths.

I have a Dish VIP211. I don't think that is the issue, because I used to have this box connected to another PC, without these issues and I have a second HD PVR hooked up to another VIP211 to yet another PC, without these issues.

Thanks!
