Picture screensaver on HD200 making server sagetv client skip

I can't say 100% for sure, but it seems that whenever the HD-200 is displaying pictures as a screensaver my SageTV client video playback gets really jumpy - especially if another show is being recorded. SageTV client and server at the same machine. My CPU is an Intel dual core E4300 and video card is ATI 4670. OS is vista 32-bit and video decoder is the Microsoft MPEG 2. No comskip running. SageTV service is at 40-50% which seems high. Stopping the screen saver on the HD 200 doesn't bring the CPU util. down much, but the video stops skipping.

I thought easy solution - just turn off the picture screensaver, but my wife said she really enjoys it and would rather I not do so.

I'm thinking my CPU may be a bit underpowered and I absolutely must upgrade it

but I would be open to other suggestions.
