SageTV just decided to quit playing videos

Hi,

I have SageTV server playing on an HP MediaSmart EX495 (WHS) and a SageTV HD Theater box. I have 2 Silicondust HD Homerun boxes one has a dual tuner and the other a single.

All was working just fine. I watched a TV show I recorded. Then went to watch another one and got a playback error and I get a "No Signal" when trying to watch live TV.

The most detailed error message I can get is playing the SageTV client on the HP Windows Home Server box.

sage.PlaybackException Error (-5,08007000e) There was a problem rendering the audio portion of the content for playback.

I have no idea how to get it to work again. My WD and Dlink Media players playback the videos just fine. The SageTV is still recording TV shows that I'm watching with the other players.

Any ideas what happened and how to fix it? I must have been a few versions back because I went through the Upgrade option a few times on the SageTV software.

As far as I can tell EVERYTHING is running just fine except the SageTV software and the SageTV HD Theater hardware refuses to play ANY file. I've tried to playback files the SageTV recorded, youtube, google and videos I've recorded elsewhere that SageTV used to playback.

Jeron

Seeing this problem as well

Sat down to watch the first two episodes of Lost Season 6 that I had recorded earlier, and when I pressed play I got the playback error dialog and "No Signal" displayed.

I've been waiting half a year for this show and then this happens. Bloody hell! Why couldn't it happen when we were trying to record Curious George for the kids instead??? ;p

I had been using SageTV 6.2 with a Hauppauge HVR-1600 card successfully for months and months. It worked fine with my HTPC running Windows XP. Then I decided to upgrade the motherboard and install Windows 7 Home 64 bit. Same Hauppauge card same SageTV version. Now I can watch "live" TV, but sometimes when I record a show and then try to watch it the playback error + No Signal issue happens.

So does anyone know what is going on?

- Mike

Yeah I don't understand why I'm getting pristine recordings, yet I can't play anything. SageTV is recording TV shows off of the three HD Homerun tuners, but I can't play any of the recordings with SageTV software or hardware. I can play live tv with every client I can find that supports the HD Homerun tuners, except the SageTV software and hardware.

The SageTV HD Theater is worthless now. It worked fine for a couple weeks then just decided to stop for no apparent reason. I played a recorded show, then picked another one and haven't been able to play anything from then on. The only thing I can think of is maybe an automatic update for some software ran an update while I was watching a show, that caused playback to quit for all other shows.

At least with the SageTV software I can record shows, but that's all its good for.

The Western Digital and DLink media players have no problems playing anything and everything.

It would be nice to have some sort of SageTV diagnostic program that I could run or a better error message than "playback error" and "no signal".

Lost ability to view anything on SageTV HD Theater

I just lost my ability to view anything on the SageTV HD Theater yesterday - Feb. 20, 2010. Worked fine in the morning when I left home, no audio or video when I came home. All menus work correctly, thumbnails show, but when I select "play" I get a blank screen, no audio, and attempts to advance on the timeline jump back to the start of the video timeline.

The last time I saw something like this was when I went in to "tweak the settings" in the Video/Audio section of Detailed Setup.
Learned my lesson.
This time I did not touch anything.

Recordings still occur as scheduled on the host PC, and recorded shows display correctly on the host PC.
The problem resides solely on the HD Theater when trying to play any video, either recorded on the host PC or when played from Online Services (which I never use except to troubleshoot).

Software version: SageTV V6.6.2.218
Java Version: 1.6.0_18 (installed on 2010-02-12)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium (although SageTV still reports as Vista 6.0)
Current STV File: SageTV3_withimports ... SAGETV PROCESS LOCAL UI.xml (Version 6.6.2.24 December 9, 2009)
Current STV Theme: Standard SDTV
Current STV file set version: 2009120901, MD5 prefix: f19731

I have entered a Support Request ticket and will keep this updated.

@gasher... did you try unplugging/replugging back in the hd200 to cold boot it? Sometimes if you try to play a corrupt file then all subsequent playback fails until you cold boot the hd200...
