SageTV GUI weird behavior

Someone has to have seen this, SageTV GUI, server or client, does not refresh items correctly? only the item under the mouse is drawn? I could not seem to find any forum topic on this issue? Using latest version of SageTV, 6.6 like it, but this issue is not a positive. Happens on Windows XP 32bit SP3 fully patched. Happens on multiple machines running same version of OS. See attached file for example of issue. I disabled menu animation the the greatest degree allowed, but issue still exists. Looks like a bug to me.

I would check your versions of Java, video card drivers, and DirectX.

DirectX is 9.0c, DxDiag reports no errors or faults. Video Drivers are upto date for both, Intel(R) 82865G Graphics controller, 96MB and NVIDIA GetForce4 MX 4000, 64MB, for each of the two systems. Java is 6u18. I have two systems doing the same thing, as noted in my original note. SageTV requirements state DirectX 9 is option but installed, I don't recall any specific Java version required, but 6u18 is latest. Any additional suggestions?

Try disabling 3D acceleration in Detailed Setup -> Advanced. That should at least say whether it is a 3D issue. Maybe try an earlier revision or do of Java & make sure no other versions are still installed. After that, try contacting SageTV support.

I reinstalled Windows XP (SP3 and fully patched as of this evening (7pm PST). I installed WinTV 7v (since I am using a WinTV 1600 with QAM support). WinTV is working. And SageTV GUI now works correctly, all items appear, not just the hilited item in the active menu. But I have not allowed Java to install any updates. Current Java is 6u10.

The problem now is, SageTV reports all channels as no signal. Source is WinTV 1600 TS Capture, since I am using FiOS TV, and looking for unencrypted QAM channels. The scan reported it found what I believe is the correct number of channels. This is odd, before I was getting channels but now, none, absolutely none. I have used the default FiOS digital channel list, I have searched for changes (full scan), etc. Nothing. This is really odd, since WinTV v7 works, just fine, found all QAM unencrypted channels just fine. By the way the channel preview in the scan setup... does not work worth a dang either.

Searching the forums is painful... lots of people have trouble finding channels, why is this so insane? Any help appreciated.

Try the native recording patch topic stuck at the top of the beta forum.

Well, although I am still testing... I got signal briefly... but it was disappeared, this surprised me. I was thinking there maybe some type of conflict going on with WinTV services as well. But it comes and goes, the signals that is.

I did find out how to consistently create the original GUI bug/quirk... if I select under Configure Video Playback as custom or anything above medium... the weird GUI issue occurs. The key configuration setting seems to be any video playback mode that enables 3D acceleration. The video card is a Intel 82865G (96MB RAM), it is an older card, but worked fine with Dscaler and ATI Wonder Pro, when I was using analog tuner, and works for everything else I need/use. It does support 3D acceleration per Windows and DxDiag. Current driver is 6.14.10.4396 which per Windows Update and HP (desktop is DC5000) is current.

Initial use of suggested update in beta forum, did not seem to help. So did complete removal of WinTV, and SageTV and re-install of SageTV did get some channels discovered, all that are unencrypted (since no STB in use yet), but not completely out of the woods... some channels work fine, some audio only. Have not started playing with the decoders yet, as noted in the FAQ but been down this road before... to an extent with decoders, since at times have watch a lot of Anime over the years. Decoders are always fun, cough.
