Question SageTV fails to calculate available disk space

Hi,

I'm currently using SageTV 6.6.2.218 on Windows 7 32-bit. My problem is, SageTV doesn't calculate the available disk space correctly: it always shows "0.0 GB". Consequently, the space bar (from the unsupported extras) doesn't work, and I get tons and tons of "Diskspace Insufficient for Recording" system messages. However, recordings work fine (because there is indeed plenty of free space).

Here is what I get from the "System information" menu:

Quote:
Available Video Diskspace: 0.0GB
Recoverable Video Diskspace: 0.0GB
Used Video Diskspace: 109.25GB
I only use one directory for recordings, which is located on a partition (E:\) isolated from the system partition. This partition has a total size of 425GB, with 250GB of free space. SageTV doesn't see these 250GB and shows 0GB.

Any idea what's going on?

What does the diskspace rule say on your E: drive in SageTV setup?

And have you disabled the trashcan or emptied it for that drive?

The trashcan is disabled for E: and it has been so since I installed the system.

Is there a separate unerase program like Norton Protection (or whatever it is/was called) that is keeping deleted files around? Is there a permission issue for the SageTV UI or service that prevents it from doing some thing on that drive?

Absolutely not.

The service runs under the same user as the UI (I made it this way). This user has enough access rights to do pretty much anything on E:. In fact, this user owns everything on E:.

Is that user also in the Administrators Group? If not put the user in there and reboot and test.

When you say a partition "isolated" from the system partition what exactly do you mean? Is it just a seperate partition on a local drive in the Sage server? Is it in another machine on the network? Is the drive the partition resides on the same physical drive as the C: drive? Or is it also a sepearte, physical disk that once resided in another machine? Is the partition a primary partition or an extended partition with a logical drive? Right-click the drive (partition) and under Properties-Security-Advanced button. Who is the owner of the drive? Can you use the Edit button and then change the owner to the Administrators Group? Check and see what the Effective Permissions are of the Administrators Group. Also make sure disk quotas are disabled for that drive.

There is only one machine (my HTPC), running SageTV Media Center.

There is only one hard drive with three primary partitions. One of those is C: (the system partition), and another is E: (the "storage" partition).

The owner is the user who runs the SageTV UI and service (the user is named "HTPC", by the way).

I changed the owner of E: to "Administrators", then restarted the service and the UI. No change. "Administrators" has all the effective permissions (including Full Control).

Last thing I can think of is what version of java are you running? And do you have any plugins installed or is it just a SageTV default install? And you haven't checked the box in Disk properties to compress this drive to save disk space? If all of it checks out I can't think of anything else. You may want to open a ticket with support.

I did the following on top of the default install:
- I enabled the unsupported extras (Malore, etc.)
- I installed the XMLTV importer for SageTV.
- I installed the Native Recording Patch (removing it is not an option: I need it because in France HDTV audio is E-AC3)

It is unchecked.

Just to let you know: I just reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch and installed SageTV 7 on it. The problem is still here, nothing changed.
