Is it possible to schedule keyword based recording (for shows NOT in the guide yet) ?

TiVo has a feature called "Wish Lists" where you can schedule a recording based on keywords EVEN for shows NOT in the guide yet. So for example, I want to schedule a recording for the series "Amazing Race" but it does not show up in the guide yet; I can go ahead and create a wish list for any show with the words "Amazing Race" in tht title, and it will get recorded whenever such a show airs. It is even possible to set the priority of a particular wish list against other 'favorites'.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this in Sage (I am using beta 2.0.15 right now) ?

Nope, not possible currently. If the show ain't listed, you can't add it. It has certainly been requested, so perhaps it will be looked into after v2 is released.

The previous version had a Browse by Category section that seemed to list all shows SageTV ever encountered, not just the ones on in the next 2 weeks, but it was removed due to too many problems & the need to finish v2. Still, it didn't list shows that had not yet been created for some strange reason...

I second this. This is one of the best features about TiVo. If I'm going away for 3 weeks, for example, and a show isn't on for the first two, it won't get recorded. With this feature, I can add a keyword and it will pick it up as soon as it gets added to the schedule. VERY nice feature.

I remember reading that this was scheduled for V2 (in the big features request thread) but I guess that was scrapped. Too bad, it's a very useful feature!

I think adding features and tweaking performance should be Sage only concerns until studio is delivered
and think it is an awesome idea

This was never planned for V2, but it would be a good feature to come soon after. I hope at least
