SageMC questions
i was browsing the most popular imports and sagemc seems very popular. what the heck. i sucessfully imported it and and am getting used to it but not sure i like it. but then again i still struggle in default stv.
when i use default stv, i can access ripped dvds on my system by using this path: main menu>media center>browse media files>browse files on sagetv server. this let's me browse my hdd"s. i can't find an equivalent ability to do the same in sagemc. does this capability exist? if so, where is it? thanks.

You should have your imported DVDs in an imported video folder, and you can then browsse them just as you browse any other imported media. No need to browse the hard drive itself.

one other thing that stumped me last night. my extender is still using default stv and can see tv recordings done before i switched my server over to sagemc. i can't see these recordings on my sagemc server. do i need to set up directories like with default stv so that they can be seen or just do the ctrl-o thing to find them?

All of your clients. whether PC or extenders should see the same import directories, recording directories, etc. With that bein said you need to make sure any PC clients have permissions to see those directories if they are another machine. Make sure the PC that has the directories also has a user ID with permissions to the direcotries. Make sure the directories are shared. (A little hand on the folder)

I think you have to have the left menu pane selected, not an actual video file.

Wish I had thought of that. Got a little challenged following Fuzzy's line graph for his setup.
