HDHomeRun and Windows 7 - no Audio in Client
I upgraded to Windows 7. I am running version 6.6.2.218
Most all works, except audio issues with HDHomeRun. HDHomeRun streams video and audio just fine using VLC or HDHomeRun viewer. When watching it live using SageTV Client (not media extender), no audio. SageTV will record from HDHomerun, SageTV Client provides no audio. However, the HD200 Media Extender has no such problems. Audio is fine watching live and it can play back recorded videos. I have installed several codecs on Windows 7, to no avail. The fact that media players VLC and Microsoft Media players can play back recorded SageTV feeds from HDHomerun and VLC can play Live stuff from HDHomeRun indicates to me my codes are fine. Has anybody yet configured SageTV/Windows 7/HDHomeRUn and used the client to watch live tv or view recorded successfully? |

Try ac3filter_1_63b

That's the one i'm using. In fact, HDHomerun wouldn't work without it. I'm guessing that SageTV Client will not/is not using it?
I have tried editing the sagetvclient properties: videoframe/ac3_audio_decoder_filter=AC3Filter videoframe/additional_audio_filters=AC3Filter to no avail. Looks like all other components on windows 7 work, but sagetv. |

I am currently running the combination just fine using the default sage audio decoders.
Are you also using the default rendering devices for audio? Have you verified other (non-HDHR) recordings playback fine? If so, do any of these working files also use AC3 audio?

So, i suippose it is not just an AC3 issue, but some other audio issue ... In fact, i believe that i can't get the SageTV client to play any audio... Perhaps there is a setting AudioPlayback=false? somewhere. quite strange ... ============= AVI File Audio Format : MPEG Audio Format version : Version 1 Format profile : Layer 3 Codec ID : 55 Codec ID/Hint : MP3 Duration : 42mn 13s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 129 Kbps Nominal bit rate : 128 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Resolution : 16 bits Stream size : 38.9 MiB (11%) Alignment : Aligned on interleaves Interleave, duration : 24 ms (0.58 video frame) Writing library : LAME3.96r Encoding settings : -m j -V 4 -q 3 -lowpass 17.5 --abr 128 ================= Recorded HDHomeRun Audio ID : 129 (0x81) Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Duration : 2h 0mn Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 384 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Video delay : -529ms Stream size : 332 MiB (2%) |

Hmm well I did just run into a "no audio" situation yesterday oddly enough. Some how the sage client audio volume level had been turned down and I only get output when its near its max.
So just to double check the obvious: Windows has proper default audio device? Windows volume up all the way? Sage volume up all the way? Return sage audio devices/filters/codecs to default values? If all those check out, I would begin to think it's an issue with AC3 filter. Have you tried uninstalling it? Edit: oh and when you say you upgraded to 7, did you perform an upgrade install or a clean install?

Now, my non AC3 "avi" files play the audio fine. So, i am still left with the AC3 feed from the HDHomeRun, along with any recordings from that feed. I have totally uninstalled all AC3 codecs, and was not able to hear anything from any players, including HDHomeRun. Then i re-installed "ac3filter_1_63b" AC3Filter, and audio returned using HDHomeRun player along with VLC. So, at this point, SageTV does not seem to play back AC3/5.1 audio. I assume the SageTV player volume is up, since now i can play audio from my AVI/Mpeg Audio. I will attempt to turn on debug and see if i can figure out whether sagetv is even using the ACFilter. |
