Mute problem on PVR 350 with 2.0.15
I'm having trouble with the mute on the PVR-350 using Sagetv client with the PVR350.
Setup: Server - PVR-250 Dell 2.8G P4, 512M, 80 G HD -Sagetv Client - PVR -350, homemade PC 2.4G celeron, 512M, 80G HD - SateTV client. PCs connected using 100 Mbps ethernet via Dlink router. The PVR-350 connects to a conventional TV using composite out and audio out of PVR-350. Mute commands and Volume up/down do not work on the PVR-350 audio output. The commands are received by the PC, as shown by the display. (Mute causes audio bar graph to change red/green. Volume +- causes bar graph on display to increase/decrease). Is this a known problem (hardware/software)? Or a configuration problem. Thank You Rick |

Does Mute work on PVR-350 when in the server?
Why would you want to mute instead of pause? The released version does not do this I would would be surprised if the beta is supposed too. I would expect to mute only to work on the monitor.

Volume control does not work with the PVR-350's output. I assume that this is a feature of the card. For me, I just use the volume control of the TV and let it go with that.

"For me, I just use the volume control of the TV and let it go with that. " That is a work around, I don't want to use 2 remotes, and the wife doesn't understand 2 remotes for TV. Rick |

You are watching you home team (Syracuse) in the NCAA turny, with 30 sec to go and the phone rings, and you must take the call. Do you want to pause that, or watch muted and replay later. Volume +- is more of a concern that I would like to have working. I suspect they are related. Rick |

Obviously this is also a workaround, but what I do is run the 350's audio output through my SB Live. The Hauppauge remote volume control will work (but not mute), you only need the one remote, and you only have to have one set of cables to your A/V system for sage and mp3's. Of course you need a soundcard, but in my case I need it anyway so I can play audio other than the 350's output e.g. mp3s. peace...

"The way I'm able to get around it is to run a loopback cable from the PVR-350 into my line-in on the sound card, and then run the soundcard out to the TV." Clever! Do you have to change the sound card's audio setup? I thought the audio gets routed to the sound card from the mpeg stream, (which is considerably out of sync with the pvr-350 audio), so when you plug the PVR-350 A-out to mic in of the sound, don't you have to set up the audio levels for line leves and switch the inputs? Not that that is such a big deal, but I'm working toward you power on the PC, (with no monitor, keyboard, or mouse) and just operate from the TV screen. Rick |

This works very well in your standalone scenario. As I noted you don't have to switch audio inputs because all your audio is routed through the same card. peace...
