No biggee

I decided this "non-focus" thing just wasn't a very high priority in the scheme of things, which is probably why the original attachment hasn't been updated in five years. I'm just grateful that the remote actually works, and don't want to do anything that would mess that up.

I tried pressing the green power button to see what it does when SageTV isn't the focus, and it awakens Windows Media Center. I don't want that! That's bad.
haha - there's a way to disable Media Center, I just can't remember how. If I remember how to edit the ini file I'll post it here. It's kinda unbelievable that Hauppauge doesn't make different maps available for their remote. They're a hardware company, so they should start acting like one.

Actually, I finally got the non-focus thing to work by changing three lines in the irremote.ini file, as outlined in Opus4's directions. The only problem is that the GRNPOWER toggle only worked a few times before getting "stuck" with a little IR window open. I'm going to try it again by changing the direct reference to the SageTV.exe program to a shortcut in the main folder, or a SageTV.lnk file in other words. I've heard that allows the toggle to work more smoothly.

The toughest aspect of the edit was to take ownership of the file and establish permissions to edit it, which even administrators don't have in Win7. Here's a link to instructions on how to do that.

Didn't work.

No matter what I do using the GRNPOWER button toggles awake/sleep modes of SageTV, but it also toggles whether the IR starts or stops. So the second time you awaken SageTV the remote isn't usable until you go to the Start menu and "Restart IR". Bit of a bummer, but not a big deal.
