how to resolve this conflict?
I am recording Quantum Leap on Tuesday 4/6 starting at 11AM and ending at 4pm.
I have Pvr-250 pci & PVR-USB2. I have 5 minute start and 5 minute end padding. 250 does 10:55AM-12:05PM 11AM show 12PM show is skipped why doesn't USB pick this one up rather than 1pm show? USB2 does 12:55-2:05 250 does 1:55-3:05 USB2 does 2:55-4:05 here is the conflict I am getting What I don't understand is why the USB2 doesn't record the 12pm show and instead picks the 1pm show Last edited by dvd_maniac; 04-05-2004 at 09:41 PM. |

That sure looks like a strange one to me... especially since there is room to record all of them. I think I would report this as a bug, unless someone else comes along with a reasonable explanantion. Perhaps it is a buggy side effect of the new option to record back to back shows w/padding on separate tuners.
In the meantime, how about trying to force it to rethink the recording schedule by marking some/all of them as watched, then un-watch them as others get rescheduled? Maybe you could get it to fill them in if you re-add them one at a time. As a last resort, I would turn off the option to record them on separate tuners. - Andy |

for now
I have an ATI AIW 9700 Pro in addition. So I am just going to cap it with MMC 8.9 and AIW. I will also wait until tommorow and see if anybody can shine light on this. If not I will report it as a bug. I am also going to pick up a 3rd tuner. Another PVR-USB2. I hope I don't have any conflicts

hmm
This is weird...
After I checked the recorded shows on my hard drive, I noticed that SageTV actually tried to record the show in question, but instead of doing it right (12-1) It recorded 12:05-12:55=50minutes. In the conflict box I left it to DO NOTHING. So it never should have attempted to record this at all.Right??? |

Looks like Sage is working IF you modified the property in the property file to tell Sage to remove back to back padding. That overlap would cause a Conflict in that case.
Just noticed this is Sage beta talk in the Sage forum. Moving to the beta forum. Last edited by mlbdude; 04-06-2004 at 02:21 PM. |

mlbdude: How could this be proper behavior? There was room to schedule & record all of those shows on separate tuners (in order to keep the padding on each show) w/o any conflicts arising.

you mean this?
From Properties File:
remove_padding_on_back_to_back_favorites=false So then that is why it caused the conflict? I have the same exact recording schedule for tommorow's Buck Rogers episodes with the same padding (5Minutes F&R). It is not given me any conflict Same channell and same time slots. So to me it looks like the USB2 should have picked up the 11:55 - 1:05 show. I also tried to set watched to all the quantum episodes and clear them 1 at a time to see if it fixed but it didn't. I'm sorry, but I don't understand why the remove padding =false would have caused this today, but not the same result tommorow? |

If you have back to back favorites on the same channel with padding and set that property to false Sage is designed to will throw a conflict. That sounds like your situation but I could be missing something
.I do not know why it has not thrown a conflict yet for tomorrow. |

I have 2 tuners
So:
tuner 2 should grab 10:55-12:05 tuner 1 should grab 11:55-1:05 (But it is not) tuner 2 should grab 12:55-2:05 tuner 1 should grab 1:55-3:05 tuner 2 should grab 2:55-4:05 As you can see this should not conflict in any way. Which is what is happening tommorow with Buck Rogers. But for some reason this is how it is: Show1-tuner2 Show2-skipped (although It did record but only for 50 minutes) Show3-tuner1 Show4-tuner2 Show5-tuner1 |

It might be late in the day for me
, but explain where in that picture he has posted that Sage could have recorded that other episode with the padding?

Why didn't tuner 1 (USB2) pick up the 12-1 episode? If you look at the screen shot above, it could've & should've. I will watch for it in the near future, but I am picking up another USB2 device on Friday, so this should solve my problem anyways. |

Going by the picture, if Tuner 1 took the 11:55-1:05 episode, the episode that is scheduled on Tuner 1 from 12:55 - 2:05 would have to be moved to Tuner 2. On Tuner 2 it looks like there is a show starting at 1:55 so that would have had to be moved.
A possibility, was there a show near or parallel with the beginning or end of this Quantum Leap chain other than Quantum Leap? That may have thrown if off. However, if all you had was 10:55 - 3:05 Quantum Leaps on the same channel then it would have catty-cornered them. Either way, submit a bug report linking this thread. That property does not get tested often. |
