Error when trying to view live tv

Hi all ive downloaded the latest beta today and have been in the process of setting sage up with my usb2-pvr from hauppauge.

This is my first install no previous version.

I have setup the tuner OK and imported data from the guide from XMLTV no problems.

When i go to view a live tv program there is a very quick flash of a message relating to 'direcshow filter dump file error' it does not stay on the screen long so i cant get a pic of it

the screen then goes to the channel view but is blank, if i leave it for a few minutes i get the floowing error on the screen

Here is my log also http://www.miket.net/sageerror/sagetv_0.txt

I have installed dx9b again but ths did nothing.

i can access livetv fine in wintv2000 so the usb device seems to be working OK.

Any ideas?

thanks
Mike

Your log shows a Java error. What version are you running? Make sure you have the most current runtime version installed, AND make sure you have un-installed all previous versions.

Is the tuner in use by something else? This also happens when you try and record a program? Are you using the latest Hauppauge drivers?

Hmmm...I would say to try the following:

Uninstall SageTV
Delete Frey Technologies folder from Program Files menu entirely
Uninstall Java
Download and install current runtime version from Java
Reinstall SageTV

Then see if you get the problem. A pain, I know, but it may clear out whatever's doing it and fix everything up.

I have installed the lastest drivers from hauppage for the pvr usb2

I have also managed to capture the other error message that comes up

there are no other tv tuner apps running and i have rebooted and then launched sage to make sure

a test beyondtv install is installed on the machine but is not set to run at startup and is not running

I would do a complete reinstall of Sage as suggested before. It looks like some filter is not being registered. Also, send in an official support request. The author of that error message should be able to get you a solution pretty quick .

Yep, that's the same error that's showing up in your log...it's a java error. So I would make sure your java is current (and not running with other runtime versions) and reinstall sage. But make sure you follow the directions provided earlier, in that order, because you want to make sure you uninstall sage and java first, then make sure your Frey/Sage folder is deleted, then reinstall both (Java first). Then see if it works. Failing that, a tech support request is a great idea too - they'll try to help usually right away.

thanks all

did what you said removed sage then java

reinstalled java, the the sage 2.0 beta

and it works

first impressions are very impressive, the overscan feature for the menus/OSD is excellent

picture guality is also very good

still need to work out all the key controls so i can set up my remote but at the moment it it looking great

will now setup some favourites and run it on my test system for a week, then it may well replace my current front room system that uses beyondTV

the second error appears to me to be a video decoder setup wrong or not registered as mentioned before
not all decoders support all mpeg modes and cyberlink does not currently support VMR9
