Time Change Goof up

I don't know if this is an issue with SageTV or with the EPG service. Last night the Tiem change happened here in the Eastern time zone and my computers where not set to automatically update for the time change. For some reason SageTV is really confused. I set my clock to the right time and the schedule shows the 6PM news at 5PM.

Any else see this?

Thanks,
John

I know my case is different, but just for information: I have my machines sync'ing against an NTP server, rather than letting SageTV do it. I didn't have any hiccups that I know of.

Kind of frustrated.

I am sure there is a bug some where. It appears to think I am in central time or something. When I let SageTV Sync with the server it will force the time to one hour behind. It is as if the server some how does not know my zip is supposed to be in Eastern Time.

I even removed all the EPG config info in the properties file and readded all the Sources and donwloaded the guide data again. Still thinks everything should be an hour earlier than it is.

Arg!

Is your cable service based in Indiana? Most of Indiana doesn't change time. Or, maybe there is a guide glitch for your service. Just guessing...

I wonder where SageTV gets its time setting.

I am beginning to think the same thing.

I went to Zap2it.com and it thinks everything is right for my exact provider info so SageTV is some how messing up the Data so that it thinks eveything is off by an hour.

Double check that your computer is in daylight savings time.

I am having exactly the same issue. The time in SageTV is being reported correctly but all of the guide data is an hour off.

That is the weird thing. My system time is set to 8:39PM with Daylight savings time on. But in SageTV the time says that it is 7:39PM and all the schedule is off. So at this point SageTV will record the right things at the right time(actual time), but the guide and SageTV think it is one hour behind what time it actually is.

I disabled snyc with SageTV Server as it was making things even worse.

Even more interesting is that with the exact same settings on my client PC (time settings and SageTV Sync with Server Disabled) everything shows up correctly. The right time and the guide data lined up right.

Very weird.

In your first post you said you didn't have it set for DST. Did you set it for DST or did you just correct the time?

I set it for DST. Originally I did not have it set. Then I decided to try setting DST, Disabling Sync with SageTV Server. At that point I got the strange behavior of my client being correct and the server still not being correct.

I think Sage runs on a GMT based clock and adjusts the displayed time based on the Time Zone/DST settings from windows. Sounds like since you didn't set Windows to DST it confused Sage. Try forcing a guide update, perhaps sage got guide data based on your old (on DST) settings and didn't update the times when you changed to DST.

FWIW, I have Windows Set to automatically adjust for DST, and I have Sage set to sync with the server and I had no problems.

Strangely ( I did not get this problem in the fall as I recall) I am having with this years DST as well.

XMLTVPlugin and XMLTV

1) Windows XP is showing correct time with "Automatically adjust for DST" enabled in the EST timezone.

2) Sage reports the correct time onscreen.

3) XML file has shows at the right time.

But the guide data is off by the hour (9 PM shows are indicated at 10 PM etc).

I've tried removing/adding the tuner source, tried deleting wiz.bin and resetting tuner source all to no avail.

Is there some .properties element to check of other debugging measure I can take.

I had "sync Time" in Sage enabled, but tried the above with it disable as well.

Yeah I submitted a bug report.

Mine seems more straight forward in that the system is right and the time in SageTV is wrong both in the data and time displayed. For now since it believes the time is off by an hour the guide data being off by an hour is ok and everything is recorded correctly.

Strange.

I hope the guys come up with a solution soon.

John

If you didn't have "adjust for Daylight Savings" time enabled you would have experienced a problem. Once you make that change and adjust the time accordingly for your PC, you will have to restart SageTV for the settings to take effect.

I have done this numerous times. I have even rebooted the PC and the clock in the System tray says the correct time and the time in SageTV is still one hour behind as well as as the guide data ( 5PM News at 4PM ) Since SageTV thinks that it is 4PM at 5PM this works out ok.
