SageTV Recording Volume
I use SageTV to control a Hauppauge PVR-250 card for recording programmes, which I normally watch using a Hauppauge Media MVP, and everything is great
However, when I play back the recorded programmes using a regular media player such as VLC, the volume is EXTREMELY loud. Playing a regular AVI or something else through the same media player produces normal sound levels so it is clear that the sound level recorded with the program using Sage is overly loud. Is there any way I can set the audio level that Sage records with? Many thanks, Ian. |

What kind of soundcard do you have?

It's a Realtek HD Audio, embedded on my Intel motherboard, but the sound goes into the Line Input on the PVR-250.
Is there any way for the volume level on the PVR-250 to be controlled, either by Sage or somewhere in the drivers of the card? Thanks, Ian. Last edited by Ian Davies; 10-20-2009 at 09:10 PM. |

Go to control panel, realtek audio hd panel, click on sound effects, and enable loudness eq.

Now that is funny because I find the complete opposite. My HD-PVR recordings through Sage are very quiet. I have the HD-100 and the pass through for the HD-PVR both hooked into my stereo receiver.
If I listen to a "live" TV through the HD-100, the sound is low. If I change inputs and watch the HD-PVR passthrough instead of the Sage recording, the sound is close to twice as loud. So for some reason, Sage is reducing the sound level of what it is recording. The HD-PVR is getting the sound at a higher level, but something in the Sage server/HD-100 make the volume lower. PS - yes the volume on the HD-100 is turned all the way up. I verified this and use the receiver's volume control to actually change the volume of what I am listening to.
