Question Avermedia 1500MCE Recording Volume too Loud

I have a Avermedia 1500MCE capture card. For anyone unfamiliar with it, the card does not have an external miniplug cord to route audio from the card to your sound card's input. The audio is routed through the pci bus internally. I'm not sure if the card is a "blackbird" based design or not, but I think I read somewhere that it is related.
The problem I am having is that the recording volume level is too loud. I am getting hissing or clipping at the louder points in the recording upon playback. I am sure that it must be similar to the problem I have read about on a dozen different web pages that people have with some of the wintv cards. Registry tweaks are listed for wintv cards to alter the volume that the tuner records at.
Does anyone know of any way to lower my recording volume on the avermedia card, either with a registry change for the driver, or somehow within an actual sagetv setting? At first I was happy with my tuner card, the avermedia produces great quality video, but now i'm getting disgusted with this volume level.
