SageTV Client will not launch

I have a fully working system (see below), and just installed the Client software on my Vista desktop.

However, when I click to open the icon from my desktop, I briefly see the hour glass, then nothing.

Tried opening as Administrator - just the same.

I have had Sage running on Vista 32 and 64 in the past so I know it will work but I did not see anything like that before.

I would uninstall and then reinstall. If it is still not working I would disable the Vista Firewall \ Run as Admin and see if that makes any difference.

Windows firewall is off.

I turned off AVG's firewall and tried to open as administrator - to no avail!

I've uninstalled and deleted the Sagetv folder, then reinstalled - still the same.

you have Java installed? I suggest you uninstall SageTV and Java, then reboot and reinstall SageTV, it will install Java also.

I just did a Microsoft update and after rebooting Sage wouldn't start. Also I could not uninstall Java.

I had to:
Uninstall Sage.
Download a program to uninstall Java from the Sun site.
Install an older version.
Uninstall both the older version and the latest.
Reinstall the latest Java.
Reinstall Sage.
