Clinet - How Do I Get It To Pick Up Same STVI's as Server?

I have a SageTV server with STVi's and an HD-200 that connects to it. I am on a trial client license on a client computer as well that connects to the same SageTV server. I've looked through the manual - do I have to bring all the STVI's into the client PC folder and install them from there? I assumed I could navigate back to my server setup as I can with my HD200 and grab that customization setup but I can't. I can only stay local on my client CPU. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, you'll have to install the imports on the PC client machine and use the STV import manager in the Setup->Detailed Setup area of the SageTV Client machine to import them into the base STV. Be aware, it may not be enough to simply copy the .stvi files from the server machine to the client machine. If the imports came with any .jar files or any other supporting files or directories, those will also need to be copied to the client machine.

I was just wondering this exact same thing... I didn't realize I'd have to setup each and every client seperatly, I just thought they'd grab the setup from the server. I guess I can see the pros and cons to each method. Now for a lot of copying.

You could use Placeshifter instead of SageClient and then you will not need to do any reinstalling at all. There are some difference between Placeshifter and SageClient, but they are minor (IMHO).

hmm... interesting idea.. what would those difference be, besides the obvoius one of you can use placeshifter anyplace, and the client has to be local.

You'd still have to configure each Placeshifter client separately through the STVI Manager, since each has its own properties file.

As for the differences between Placeshifter and Client, there's a FAQ for that.
