Windows Default Audio Device

Hey Folks,

I recently bought an Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 Slim audio card (works kinda good...but that's another story). It seems that in Windows XP (to have any hope of bit streaming to my Onkyo 805), I have to specify my Slim as the default audio device in the Windows control panel.

This creates a minor annoyance because I can no longer control the volume of SageTV audio from the SageTV UI. Within SageTV 6.6 I have specified my audio renderer as my mobo analogue audio. I then realized I was unable to adjust the volume from the SageTV UI...SageTV's volume control seems to work by adjusting volume of the current Windows default audio device...in my new config...my Asus Slim...which outputs to my AVR...which I do not neccesarrily want to have on to watch SageTV. In other words, having the the Slim properly configured as the default audio device does not allow SageTV to control the volume on the analogue mobo audio out. I hope this makes sense. Can anyone offer any advice?

In summary: I need to have my Asus Slim configured as the Windows XP default audio device (I am verifying this), but would like to send SageTV audio to my mobo analogue audio device (which I can) and control its volume from SageTV (which I cannot).

Thanks!

There's a setting in the client properties that connects the system volume to Sage's volume (can't remember the name off hand). I'll try to remember to have a look tonight.

it's something to do with mapping wav to main volume or something similar

I remember having to do it ages ago with MCE so that I could control audio sent out via spdif

I believe it might be this setting if set to false... Sage will control the volume.

media_player_uses_system_volume=false
