Question Multi Tuner issues

Sorry to be a bother...I'm having a heck of a time finding posts on how to set up multiple tuners within Sage though it seems like a zillion people have already done it. Is there a multi-tuner for dummies tutorial anywhere? I have 3 tuners: an HD PVR, a WinTV HVR 950Q and a WinTV HVR 1500. I have 2 identical set top boxes (motorola DCX3200). I have ordered a USB UIRT but it's not here yet. My problem seems to be that I don't understand the setup because the HDPVR has channels when I do a scan but the other 2 get 0 channels. I know I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what! Can someone point me in the right direction please?

You essentially configure each tuner on its own, almost as if the other tuners don't exist. I say 'almost' because you may need to consider other tuners if you need to configure control for multiple STBs and you will need to consider whether the tuners all use the same or different EPG lineups -- you will need different EPG lineups for the tuners connected to an STB vs. those that are tuning QAM/ATSC digitally.

Before anyone can get into too many details: what part of the tuner config are you having a problem with?

Do you mean a channel scan in Channel Setup? The HD-PVR shouldn't even see an option to do a channel scan because it uses an external tuner (the STB). Digital tuners for QAM/ATSC/DVB are where you must scan for channels or else SageTV won't know what channels it can tune and how to do so. Each digital tuner must run its own channel scan; you can't (usually) just use the same EPG lineup as another and skip the scan.

I don't think I picked the right options then during setup for the 950Q and the 1500. I picked "digital tuner" and "copy existing lineup" for both, even though the 1500 is coming from the wall and the 950Q is coming from a STB. Could external programs be causing any problems? I also can't get them working in WMC. At first I thought the 950Q was broken, because it used to work in WMC but I couldn't get it to work in SageTV. But then I pulled the 1500 out of the drawer and it also doesn't work. So I think it's me

I guess I was kind of looking for a step-by-step for newbies? I suppose that's impossible given the multitude of variables...
