MP3's Not Scanned/Seen?
I am running STV current on XP and had previously pointed the Media Server import location for music to a UNC \\server\albums etc. This location pointed to my 20k collection of FLAC files. All was found and everything worked great. However, that location is now gone temporarily (NAS died, getting rebuilt) so I have added a new location as a mapped drive which points to another MP3 collection on the network, and mapped on drive Y so the location is y:\Albums and then many Genre\Artist\Album subfolders. From the XP machine I can browse this mapped drive just fine but when STV rescans, it indicates that no music files found?
Any suggestions? |

Mapped network drives can't be seen by SageTV when running as a service. If you are running SageTV as a service under the LocalSystem account on the server, you'll have to use UNC paths instead of mapped network drives.

To clarify, mapped drives cannot be seen by the service regardless of what account it logs in under. Moreover, the LocalSystem account cannot access network resources even via UNC paths (that's why it's called LocalSystem). To import files from another machine, you must (a) use UNC paths and (b) log the service into a user account with network privileges.

I am facing the same issue. I am able to do step (1) use UNC paths, but can someone guide me regarding how to get the service to login with the admin group privilege to the network share.

In the ServiceControl applet that you use to set up the service, there's an option to log in as LocalSystem or as another user. Choose a user name that has the appropriate privileges on the file server where the import directory resides. You may need to set up the identical user account on both machines (Sage server and network file server) for this to work.
You can also configure the service login through the Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services console.
