Two HDPVR Setup, change channels problems

Well I finally got another HD box from my cable company and another HDPVR. Now I am trying to configure the ir blaster portion of this. I successfully configured the video part of the tuner. I cannot seem to get both tuneres to change the channels properly.

Here is is what I have to change channels:

1. Each hauppage has a internal IR blaster.

2. A while ago I bought a usb uirt.

Here are my boxes from my cable company

Motorola DCT6200

Pace DC700x HD

Problems I am running into:
I read that the hauppage software only supports one ir blaster.

The USB uirt only has one ir blaster port.

Although both cable boxes are by separate manufactures, both accept the same remote/same ir.

What I have tried:
I attempted to configure 1 HDPVR blaster for the Motorola box and the USBUIRT for the Pace box. When I have 2 HDPVRs installed the blastcfg seems to get confused and does not function correctly.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Grab an IR blaster cable, you plug it into the "headphone" port on the USB UIRT. Then you can configure sage to control the three zones (STBs) independently on the USB UIRT.

I tried using the HD-PVR IR and it did not work, so I used my USB-UIRT, which I already owned. One USB-UIRT can control up to 3 devices. Check the model number printed on the USB-UIRT. If there is a small letter "z" after the model number, then your USB-UIRT can control up to 3 devices.

Here is a link that talks about the USB-UIRT controlling up to three set top boxes:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...sb-uirt&page=6

There are a couple photos of USB-UIRT layouts for up to 3 set top boxes.

I have an IR code that works for the DCT6200 cable box. The same code also works on the DCX3200 cable box. The remote code I included is for zone 2. You can modify it for zone 1 or zone 3 by changing the number after the letter "z" on each line.

So I have never rewired a transmitter. I have a dual head transmitter (like the one that as I understood it, would not work) I have two hauppage transmitters, but I am not sure what to do to make it work. My first thought is the cut into the wire and splice it or can the actual plug be disassembled.

Thanks for the help

Since I could never get any of my Hauppauge IR devices to work with Hauppauge cards, I just use the USB-UIRT. I took two old Hauppauge IR devices, cut the cords and wired them to a stereo 1/8" plug I got from Radio Shack. The Radio Shack part number is 274-1547. It is the better quality, metal plug, with screw terminals, so it does not require soldering. When you wire the IR device to the plug, if it does not work, you can try reversing the two leads.

You will be able to control two devices with the two IR devices wired to the 1/8" stereo plug, plus one more device from the USB-UIRT device itself.

Another option would be to take an old headphone cable from an old broken headphone set with a 1/8" stereo plug and splice the two IR device cables to the old headphone cable.

You could also purchase the IR devices from various links mentioned in the link about hooking up three set top boxes. Or, try using the high-output 5 mm infrared LEDs (part number 276-0143) mentioned in the link. I purchased several of the LEDs, but haven't tried them out yet - they were less than $2 each at Radio Shack.

Another solution would be to use firewire if your Motorola boxes have firewire ports.

This solution worked. I now have two hdpvrs working. Sage now changes the channel properly via the multizone solution. I have one of my cable company boxes on z1 and the other on z2 utilizing the usbuirt and I purchased one of those 274-375 (this was the key to making it function properly).

Thanks for your help, I greatly appreciate it. Got any suggestions to speed up channel change with the HD200?

Bill
