Local HD over Cable Problems

Hi,
I'm a forum noob. I searched for an answer but was unable to find one - I apologize if I missed it.

I have a Dvico Fusion that I use to tune HD OTA. But some signals are kind of weak so I decided to tune the local (unencrypted) hd channels from Comcast. If I use the Dvico TV application and do a scan, it finds all the channels, so I know that they are there. My problem is setting up the Dvico Fusion in Sage in this configuration. I tried setting it up as "Digital Tuner" -> "Cable", and then scanning, but it doesn't find any channels. Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Are you using Windows or Linux? ClearQAM with the Dvico Fusion is only supported with Linux.

I'm running XP. So it looks like I'm out of luck. From your reply it sounds like there are other tuners for which ClearQAM is supported with windows....off to find that thread!

Thanks for saving me some time.

See http://www.sagetv.com/requirements.html?sageSub=tv for supported tuners. Be sure to find the correct section which I believe is "Supported ClearQAM HDTV Tuners (requires SageTV V6.2 or later)" for your needs.

IMHO, without a doubt getting clear QAM over cable your best bet is the HD HomeRun. Dual tuners capable of clear QAM, or OTA or one of each even.
GREAT support from Silicon Dust and good integration into SageTv.

You will find a lot of very happy HD HomeRun users out there. I've got 2 of them doing the bulk of work on my system with an HD-PVR hooked up to the cable box for the encrypted channels and 2 legacy Hauppauge PVR-500s for the few analog channels that Comcast hasn't moved totally to digital.
