Thanks for your heads-up about using USB Hub. two weeks about I found a great deal on External Hard Drives and got 3 getting ready for the fall tv season, but I needed to add a hub to use them. Not right away but 3 or 4 days later (which really threw me off) my three HD PVR, went nuts with random lockups and tons of messages from sage about missed recordings. 5 days ago I added a 5 port PCI usb card after reading your post and have not had a lockup or missed recording since doing do.

thanks

I had issues with my HD-PVR, until I stopped using the built-in IR Blaster. Since switching to the USB-UIRT several months ago, I have not had anymore lock-ups.

I'm running Vista 32-Bit SP2 and Sage 6.2.2

FWIW, I broke cardinal rule "if it ain't broke" last night. Updated from what I think was the 1.0.5.3 WHQL drivers to the new 1.0.5.6 betas. And my HD PVR has gone non-responsive at least twice. Previously it was maybe twice since I installed the 1053 drivers. So the old drivers are going back on now.

Just an update, got the 1.0.5.3 (I think the zip was actually called 1.0.5.301) installed, and the HD PVR has once again been fine ever since.

After reading your post stanger89, I finally found a link to download the 1.0.5.3 drivers and it works great on Server 2008 R2, so far 48 hours without any issues on my D2 unit using SDPIF cable for the frist time in over year.

So far....

But This tuner has put a bad taste in my mouth, for company that produce some really great tuners in the past, I mean you plug it in and install the software and it "JUST" works. That is the way it should be, try this, try that, adjust the STB lower resolution, switch audio feeds , tape this up, turn off this feature because it doesn't work etc... is not what I paid money for, I paid for something to work not spend over a year to beta test. I gave up on this tuner for 8 months because its a P.O.S. And giving the current state of my RMA'd D2 unit with the "Hauppauge" name on it, I am currently waiting for it to fail me once again. And that's not great to think of product like that. Hey on the other hand, the HVR 1800 & is rock solid performer and never thought twice about it failing me.

Well, it works about as well as the PVR-PCI, which had it's set of issues. It would glitch out occasionally IIRC, and the drivers were iffy. It wasn't til the second generation that they really got their SD cards solid.

If you want a bright side, it seems like with the HD PVR, they're trying harder, having several hardware revisions already.

5 days and I have not had one lockup! Looks like it was a motherboard/USB problem.

Could you please post the "bad" setup in the "Hows the HD PVR working" thread? I think that's the sort of info that will be most valuable, seems like a smaller set of hardware/software doesn't work than does.
