What are you guys doing for proper MKV file playback?
MKV's play fine for me in everything BUT Sage. I've been working on this for quite some time, searching and reading posts here and such. Sage never calls the proper codecs to play an MKV file correctly. It's getting quite annoying.
I've tried on both Windows 7, and XP boxes. Tried all the various codecs, and combos thereof. I'm running all the latest versions of everything as well. Thanks. |

Have you tried renaming it to mpg?

Nope.
I will give that a try. Thanks. edit: Doesn't help. Last edited by bhyman1; 08-20-2009 at 12:04 PM. |

First, you need to download Haali Media Splitter if you haven't already done that.
Then you need to edit your properties file and set: always_use_dshow_player=true That should let your mkv's play.

![]() Thanks! Just curious, but why would this be defaulted to false? |

Because it also affects playback of recordings. Just make sure your recordings play ok. They should, but you never know.

In my previous test, setting it to true will affect the online-video (Streaming) playback. Some other setting have to be tweaked for it to work.
