Actual Start Time vs. Program Guide
Hi,
I don't know what the right terms to use are, so my searches didn't turn up anything. Sorry if this has already been asked, but the FAQ didn't have it. Does SageTV have the ability to record a program I select, even when it starts at a time which is different than what is shown and selected via Program Guide? Specifically, if I'm recording a sporting event that runs longer that what the guide shows, will I get the entire game? What if I select a program which starts after a game (that I am not recording)? Does SageTV detect this and record when the show finally starts (and records the entire show?) Any help, pointers to prior discussions etc. would be appreciated. Thanks. |

There is an add on that is suppose to handle this, but I can't remember the name. Someone that uses it, please speak up.

The extension mentioned above will help for sporting events that run long, if the event is sufficiently mainstream, probably American only.
I don't know of any good way to handle the programs that follow. Currently, I believe CBS is the worst offender by far, on Sunday night, throughout football season and perhaps beyond. What I do is add about 50 minutes of padding, and then use VideoRedo to chop and join the pieces, quite a laborious job when it often involves 2 consecutive programs, Cold Case and The Unit if I remember right. I reconstruct the program in another video folder, set the time stamp (possibly not needed any longer), delete the original, and rescan. |
