Cool WHS Add-in & HD200

Lots of downloads on the mediasmarthome.com forum. However I see limited threads here related to the WHS add-in but figured I waould ask the sage folks if anyone had downloads experience with this situation. In general the Add-in works great with my EX-487 SageTV HD-200. Plays all my content plays fantastic! SageTV is only loaded on my MediaSmart and I am playing content on my home theater using the HD-200, only one issue, the TV guide does not download. Opened a port on my UPnP Router, 7760 per the manual, application HTTP, Protocol TCP, IP Address same as the EX-487 Server, still no luck. Also, opened the 7760 port on the WHS firewall, no luck. Reviewed the HD-200 Server Information page, states Previous Download: Never, Next Download: Never. I did post this with Sage Tech support, no answer several days not even an acknowledgement that they could be working so I figured I would ask the comminuty. If I had the guide, could maybe go after recording web content.

Any suggestions would bw appreciated.

EPG FAQ

Check that out. If you sent support an email check your spam folders. They answer within 3 days. Or they may not have received yours so try sending from a different email address. Once those ports were opened did you reboot?

Thanks Big Gerr. I do periodically check my web spam folder, I double checked and did not get a response, but eitherway, I sent another request last night. I could not remember if I did restart after I made the change to the server windows firewall, so I did. Still no change. Is it safe to assume I should have a guide on the WHS add-in?

I didn't see this mentioned in your post, so I have to ask: is there a tuner configured in SageTV? And, is it configured to use an EPG lineup?

Thumbs up

No tuner in my config. I finally figured out that a tuner is required somewhere even on a server to get the guide. Even the Sage Support folks didn't notice that I did not have a tuner card. However, their input to remove and then add video sources led me to that conclusion. Thanks for noticing Andy!

Maybe will add a tuner to one of my PCs. The HP MediaSmart is a good server package, great for automated backups, great to stream content from, but not expandable other than adding drives. Basically I got what I initially wanted, to play all my content from my server on my home theater, my original goal. Like anything else, once you have something cool, like SageTV, you think of other things to do with it.

You can add a tuner to your HP Mediasmart. Either a HDHomerun or a HD-PVR. The HDHomerun connects to your network via ethernet and the HD-PVR connects to your HP Mediasmart via USB. Search the forum or google these tuners.

I have a question... if you have no tv source into your sage setup, what information did you expect to see in the program guide?
