Pretty much. I wonder how broken SageTV app is on Snow Leopard. Personally I would like it if they fixed Placeshifter and the client first then tackled the main app. But then that would be selfish of me because I use the main app on windows.

Let's hope for a speedy fix.

Yep, you're not the only one waiting for this. However, please note there's no newer Sage version supporting 10.6 they are encouraging you to buy, like HP did with their printers until very recently, instead of supplying updated drivers. Btw: how many company in this market segment offer that kind of support for OS X? -Right. It appears they are managing their priorities.

Eventually, I do like to upgrade to 10.6. Waiting for Sage and Konica Minolta.

I too have the Sage server on a Windows box but the client already works OK for me on Snow Leopard

I run sageTV Server on a Mac with 10.6 and it runs well--none of the issues of the placeshifter or client, and as I stated in another post, since it runs 32-bit Java 1.6, it is alot more compatible with add-ons (ie SageMC) than 10.5 was. That alone is the primary reason I switched from 10.5 to 10.6.

How are you guys doing it? Most of the people here are seeing the exact same issue. It comes up with a white screen initially. You have to resize to get it to show the proper screen.

Then when you get the proper screen it shows you the garbled text.

Other than those issues it seems to run fairly well. It does crash more often than it used to.

If you guys have found a way to get it to run properly, I am all ears! I wonder if your systems are 32 bit systems. The two machines i have are complete 64 bit systems - a newish iMac (C2D) and an 8 core MacPro.

When I go to the info screen I see:

SageTV V6.6.2.218
Java Version: 1.6.0_13

what do you guys see?

Thanks
Greg

I was talking about running Sage Media Server on a Mac in 32bit mode. The Sage Placeshifter on my client Macs have the same issues as everyone else (ie white screen that must be slightly resized to get to work). I have not tried the client yet.

Right now I am in the midst of totally redoing my Mac Server, so I can't really do much extensive testing at the moment, but once every thing is back up and running, I plan to thoroughly test, and perhaps try to document my own set-up just as a reference for other Mac users...

Also, as for:

When I go to the info screen I see:

SageTV V6.6.2.218
Java Version: 1.6.0_13

I can confirm that I DO see "Java Version: 1.6.0_13," however, I suspect that if you are seeing "SageTV V6.6.2.218" then you must be running the Sage Media Server on Windows? Since I believe the version for the Mac is still at 6.6.1...

So just to be clear:

SageTV Media Center for Mac on Snow Leopard = Seems to work "ok" but still need to extensively test
SageTV Placeshift for Mac = White screen, must resize, garbled screen, but seems to play video "ok"
SageTV Client for Mac = Unknown (Have not tested on my system yet)

Hope this helps.

I updated to Snow Leopard today on my Intel Mac mini. It is running Sage Client 6.6.1.1 with no problems. I was expecting to have a problem after reading this thread but so far it's fine. I have it hooked to a HDTV using a mini dvi to hdmi adaptor cable, and then that connected to hdmi on the TV.

So it must all be place shifter... hmmm

I have only tried placeshifter with 10.6 - i purposefully kept my sage server @ 10.5 until i heard from others

I am using the Mac client with a Window server & it's OK. The only people reporting problems with garbled text &/or white screen are those using Placeshifter.

Doesn't work with Snow Leopard (Mac)

I installed OSX 10.6.1 today and now Placesetter is unusable. The initial menu (where you select the server to connect to) is OK, but when it brings up the server, the text is garbled and unreadable, making Placesetter useless. Anybody had this problem and found a fix?

I too have this issue. I await a fix in the next release . . .

I just bought Sage for my Mac too. If they do not release a hot fix I am considering reversing the charge on my card as it has not worked at all.

Well, last night i got my sage server up and running again- still not final version- i will be getting a mini soon but have it running on a mbp tot tide me over until then. Anyway, sage server is running on 10.6.1 and again, works "ok" on server itself, but placeshifter shows garbled menus as reported. However, I also noticed that the garbled menus also occur on an extender, at least on the hd100-i have not tried my hd200 yet, but i assume the same.

There are definitely a few bugs that need to be worked out with snow leopard and sage, but we all knew that already. Hopefully sage is working on it...

My problem is a bit different. The initial screen (where you select the Server) is OK. The first screen that pops up after selecting the server, has normal icons and background, but the text is garbled. It looks like several lines of text are superimposed on each line. This is on an Intel dual-core MacBook running OSX 10.6.1

That is pretty much what everyone is seeing. and if you can walk through (blindly) the menus, then video actually does play without an issue.

Unfortunately, that was just the one computer. All the rest come up with a white screen. My trial license for the SageTV Client has expired so I can't check that. I guess I'm stuck until the SageTV folks can come up with a Placeshifter fix.

So it's SageTV's fault that you didn't read and realize it's not compatible with 10.6 yet? Did you even think about this post before you let your fingers seizure across the keyboard?
