Question Recordings only showing up in video library?

I was having problems, so I did a clean install and switched to the new 6.6. I imported my old properties and wiz bin files. For some reason all of my recordings are only showing up in the video library and not in the recordings. Can someone help me out?

This forum has a sticky that should have the info you need:

FAQ: How to move files, change recording dirs, etc.

This is giving me problems. I don't have import or recording directories set up yet and my recordings are all in the video library. Why are thet there? Is that the default if something changes? I don't recall the recordings being mentioned as part of the checklist before doing a clean install.

Saying that you did a new install is too generic. Lots of stuff could be happening, but I don't know the details of exactly what you have done and how your system is set up, thus the above pointer to the FAQ dealing with keeping recordings.

One, both, or neither of the properties & database file that you think are being used might actually be in use. You said you copied your old properties file, which would have your previous settings for import & recording dirs. That properties file could also be pointing to the old wiz.bin location if you have installed SageTV to a new location. Or, if using Vista, you could end up with the properties & database files being used from the VirtualStore.

You might just want to start over with the new installaton & check the FAQ's entry for moving to a new computer. If you are really trying to do a clean install, you don't want to use the old properties file anyway.

I think that's why they are now showing as imported videos in the video library...the directories aren't defined yet. When you copied your old wiz.bin file to the new install, the new SageTV installation now knows about all of your old recordings but can't find them since the previously defined directory no longer exists or isn't defined in the new setup. Because the old recording directory is no longer defined, SageTV doesn't know if the videos are really gone or not. Instead of deleting them, SageTV leaves them in the database and they show up as imported videos, giving you an opportunity to recover them.

If you want to recover the files and get them back in to the Recorded TV area instead of showing up as imported videos, setup the recordings directory and follow the FAQ Andy posted. Once you set the new recording directory to be the directory with your old recordings, you'll probably need to follow the FAQ regarding the advanced recovery method and then the recordings should be back to the Recorded TV area in SageTV. Just be sure to keep that old copy wiz.bin from the previous installation, just in case something doesn't go right.

If recording files cannot be found & verified, they remain listed as recordings, not imported videos.

If recording files are seen but cannot be matched to their airing data, then those files will be imported videos.

Hi.
What do you mean with "found and verified"?

I have set my recordings folder as an import folder too. The folder path is set as UNC.
I would like to see my recordings showing up in the Video library too and not only in the recordings page. This is true for the recs I already had at the time I set up the recordings dir and imported it in the library. But the new recordings are not showing up in the library, I can find them only in the recs page.
What should I check/do?

I need this because, for me, the "restore playback position" (the green line) doesn't work if I start the playback from the recordings page. It does work, instead, if I start the playback from the Videos page
