BeyondTV has MediaMVP client...can someone build one for SageTV?

Can someone duplicate the functionality of http://discuss2.snapstream.com/vb/sh...5&pagenumber=1
??? I know people have said before that we have to wait for Hauppauge's SDK but now GB-PVR and BeyondTV both have clients....it is possible despite what people say.

Check out SHS' site for mods to the MVP...

http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=40

It IS possible! The exception to the issue (as I am sure you know...) is the wiz.bin file. As it is encrypted, we are SOL...

http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=3516

In regards to a homebrew effort, check out SHS site, and look under the Consolidated UI post. It is just starting, but with Keith from the BeyondTV version to Tex and his iframe mod, we may be starting something at least useable...

Anyone who can write in HTML or code in Javascript is welcome to contribute!

Does anyone know how GB-PVR's client works? Is it just a skin like the BTV one or is it something else? Does the OSD work through the client? What is missing?

sub from GB-PVR uses his executable that operates much like the MVP software on the PC. It doesn't use any html code or skins. In fact, it is the same executable as the GB-PVR app except it uses a "-mvpmode" for the switch. I would guess somehow the vnc protocol is being used just to send the interface to the MVP. It's actually amazing to use it on the TV. You get the full interface. TV Guide, Live TV, Net Radio, Music. I'm running it on the bedroom TV for the wife until Sage finishes their work on theirs. She also uses it to bring up the Sage recordings I do from our Sage server in the front room. I'm using this from a PC with the PVR250. (This also works on the PVR 350 w/OSD and the Xcard.) Currently nothing is really missing. FFW and REW on teh MVP needs work-it sort of works. For the basics everything is there. The wife is setting up her own recordings and watching them.

Very impressive that GB-PVR has XCard OSD too now! Frey might want to consider hiring more people to code...they are falling behind in some areas (MediaMVP client, and Xcard support), and the compitition is gaining ground in other areas (BeyondTV multituner support almost ready for beta and 350 support being planned...with an army of coders on staff).

Wish I had an army of coders... I'm writing GB-PVR in my spare time. With a new daughter that arrived a couple of months ago, my spare time is about two hours a day.

I wouldn't call it an "army" of coders. I think there are only 3 or 4 people working on BTV.

Yes SHS, first child. She's good fun, but very time consuming.

Yup you got the rigth lot fun with first child sub.
I plan on doing SageTV MediaMVP like BeyondTV but to reson which has nothing to with Frey Technologies it been put on hold.
Hauppauge's SDK is out but a linux SDK there be no Windows SDK for I know of but as gplasky point out sub may be using direct vnc protocol.
As said Jason you need write in HTML code like Javascript, NET, XTML, etc, etc code which run on min IE web brower.

Well that is 3 or 4 times the Frey army...also, I think MediaMVP support is more important than 350 support. The client is standalone (no pc), silent, and cheap. It is actually the same price to load a pc up with 16 PVR-250s that run cool and then run a MediaMVP client than a pc loaded with hot 15 pvr-250 boards and a 350....oh, and just hope you have the magic chipset in your computer or your decoder on the 350 could be worthless.

They have nearly 30 employees from what I have heard. I know NOT all of them are coding for BTV but they have more than 4 working on the project.

You have a good point SHS, I actually didn't mean to imply that the mediamvp version was being done by SS employees.

As far as official plans from Snapstream I have not heard one way or another.
