Can you also control the VOD system?
I've got my Media Extender working great with my IR blaster / Hauppauge card and my CableCo's set top box, however I was wondering if there was something special I needed to do to invoke the Video On Demand ( VOD / PPV ) sequence from my Media Extender remote to allow me to watch PPV?
Any suggestions would be welcome. My set top box is a Motorola DCT700. Thanks |

There are a couple different ways this can be done..
How are you going to invoke the VOD 1 - use of the VOD/DVR button on the STB remote 2 - channel 001/999 whatever the channel is Using channel 001/999 will probably be the easiest. As most EPG data is just blank VOD/PPV for multiple hrs.. It will mark the recording as being 5-6 hrs, but this should also make sure that the "recorded file" is only 1 file for playback later in Sage.. If you only are using it for PPV movies, adding all the PPV movie channels will work smoother for incorperating metadata (as those channels will already have that metadata attached to them in the EPG).. Remember you will need to have a "cancel" button to get out of the VOD system. You will need to decide how you are going to control the STB 1 - with the origional STB remote 2 - however you are currently controlling the STB If you choose option 2, you will need to know how to map the directional arrows, enter, back, and cancel buttons. This can be done via firewire (thats how I used to control it) or USB-UIRT.. There is a program I found for MCE IR blaster, made my Stephanie on these forums that will give you a popup screen with the buttons on it.. This app can also be used to help "learn" the IR codes... I would NOT learn the STB remote buttons for play/pause and instead use the play/pause functionally from Sage (this will make a more usable recording) Now, how are you planning on watching the slection of the feed?? 1 - seperate TV/Monitor 2 - thru Video Screen in Sage If you choose option 2, there will be a 1-2 second delay.. It will be VERY annoying, but usable... Thats all I can think of at the moment.. Its fairly straight forward process.. |

Ask MKANet. He has the most elegant solution I've seen.
