VOD and PPV ?

I am currently on BellTV (formerly ExpressVU) and am open to going to Cogeco cable.

Will either solution allow PPV to work in SageTV. If I go to cable will I be able to use their Video on Demand?

Cogeco uses the Motorola 6200 with firewire so no R5000 mod for it. For Bell I have a 9242 which can be modded but seems silly to mod a DVR and not use the DVR function. My other Bell box is a Dish 211K equivalent so no mod for it either.

Thanks in advance,

Kryspy

I don't know of a Sage automated solution for PPV/VoD but it should work if you do the recording manually and select the PPV/VOD show with your STB remote. With VOD I don't see how you could automate it with Sage since the movie/show selection is an interactive process.

If Cogeco uses the Moto 6200... find out if they still use/authorise the older Dct24000 or the new, cheap Dct700 (or really any other moto box that DOES NOT have a firewire port, even if the box is not HD capable), then see my thread regarding Shaw Cable and firewire

So I called Cogeco and got a tech who insists that they do not authorize HD for non-HD boxes.

I seem to recall R5000 being for Bell 6000 series boxes. If that includes the 6131 or the 6141 than one of those would only run $149 at the moment.

Seems backwards to PVR onDemand content but then again I have done it with Cogeco cable (SD) and it does work although the process is manual. Order the onDemand show on the box (which is in my basement) then set a manual recording ensuring it's recording off the correct box (I have 2). All in all, not worth it.

PPV would be better (although I haven't tried) as PPV should show up in the guide as normal show, set it to record, just call, or whatever, to active the PPV, again on the correct box.

Edit: Just noticed old post, oh well.

Nevermind, I was curious and the 6141/6131 don't support the R5000 mod

superporky,

Yup, looked into it myself. The 6141/6131 are Dish 211k.
