Help setting up Hauppauge HVR-1600

Greetings,

Like many others, im the owner of freshly purchased , HVR-1600.
After reading about what application to use to watch/record tv shows, SageTV seemed to be the obvious choice.
However, i seem to be having difficulty with a few things,
my cable TV provider is Verizon (fios), i haven't read anything negative about it regarding compatibility. When i try to scan for channels, i run into alot of channels having no signal, with no idea how to fix it, or even what the problem is.
Am i possibly not connecting the cables correctly?
I connected the cable to the ATSC Digital TV Connector on my card, considering i have digital cable service. Is this the right thing to do? Should i be plugging it in to the TV Connector instead?

My apologies if i seem unclear, but im a little flustered with the current situation!

The "digital" side of the card does ATSC (regular Over The Air or OTA) and ClearQAM (unencrypted digital cable).....

Chances are that the "no signal" channels that you are seeing are encrypted channels (you need a STB do decode those)..

Now Im assuming that you are finding channels that do have signal, probably your local channels??
